Manny Pacquiao and Josh Clottey are set for their spectacle on Saturday. Here is a bio of the champion, Manny Pacquiao.

Fighter Bio: Manny Pacquiao
Age: 31
Record: 50-3-2

In what could be the culmination of one of the most successful careers in the history of boxing, Manny Pacquiao returns to the ring Saturday March 13, 2010 to square off with Joshua Clottey.
The Filipino boxing superstar’s last fight was in November of 2009, when he knocked out Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto to earn his 50th career win.

Is this his last professional fight? Word out of the Pacquiao camp is that the legend is considering a move to politics for a congressional seat in his native country, a move that could come shortly after his upcoming bout.

Pacquiao is the current WBO World lightweight champion, WBC World super featherweight champion, IBF World super bantamweight champion, and WBC World flyweight champion.
It is unknown how much the result in his battle with Clottey will affect his decision on his boxing future. After canceling a date with fellow undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr., the fight that this bout replaced, a victory over Clottey will no doubt have followers calling for the two of the biggest superstars in the sport to finally meet in the ring.

Fight With Joshua Clottey

After the mega showdown between Mayweather and Pacquiao was cancelled because of the latter’s unwillingness to provide blood samples closer to the scheduled date of the fight, organizers put together a bout with Clottey to take its place.

Of his three career losses, the Ghanaian welterweight has never been knocked out. Clottey was disqualified in his loss to Carlos Baldomir, suffered a split decision loss to Miguel Cotto, and a unanimous decision loss to Antonio Margarito.

Should Pacquiao knock out Clottey that would be a huge accomplishment in itself, but it is unlikely. The champion’s corner will more likely prepare to go the distance in this fight, breaking Clottey down and outlasting him with his premium conditioning.

After The Fight With Clottey

The road Pacquiao chooses to take following his next fight may have a lot to do with how he performs against Clottey. It is already widely speculated that the Filipino phenom could run for congressional seating in his native country.

A victory will no doubt spark the calls for a battle of the best boxers between Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr., and if he feels his body is in peak form and he has the desire to compete, a match between the two with the top records in the future is not unlikely.
