Boxing Picks - Donaire has it easy at Pinoy Power 2

Bookmark and Share by Corey E

Nonito Donaire certainly has bigger things on his mind than his matchup with Rafael Conception at Pinoy Power 2 this Saturday on Top Rank pay-per-view.

While the contest may indeed be for the interim WBA super flyweight title (in a bout he’s heavily favoured in on boxing betting odds), this is seemingly just a stepping stone for the Pilipino superstar. Donaire dominated the 112 pound division, and is simply gaining a few to garner a title at 115, as he sets out to win as many titles in as many divisions as possible.

Sound familiar?

"The Filipino Flash" grew up in the very same city as Manny Pacquiao, General Santos City, and fittingly, went to the same school as well. Not to mention that he has publicly stated that his boxing idol growing up was Alexis Arguello. Both men were cultural icons and beloved by their countrymen, however both managed to win world titles in several weight classes as well. Donaire pulls no punches in admitting that is his goal as well.

“Before I leave the 115 pound division, I want to fight Jorge Arce and Fernando Montiel,” Donaire told reporters. “Those two are on my mind and it doesn’t matter who is first."

Donaire is favoured heavily against Conception, and barring a real disaster, will capture the title as well.

However, hardcore boxing betting enthusiasts have their eyes on the undercard matchup between Steven Luevano and Bernabe Concepcion for Luevano's WBO title. The match is a very interesting style clash between an excellent defensive tactician in the champion, and an all-action brawler in the challenger. It will be intriguing to see who folds first and adheres to his opponents wishes inside the squared circle.

Those looking to bet on boxing this weekend should take a look at a parlay wager considering the boxing lines set at this point at the BetUS Sportsbook. Donaire is a lock to win the title, but Luevano offers a little more juice on the moneyline. However, the WBO champ should be able to move and box his way around the one-dimensional Conception. Historically, talented boxers are able to outthink and manoeuvre their way around all-out brawlers, and there’s no reason to suggest that anything different will transpire at Pinoy Power 2.
