Fight of the Week - Nikolay Valuev vs. Ruslan Chagaev
by Dave D

Nikolay Valuev and Ruslan Chagaev take their heavyweight show on the road to Helsinki, Finland. Online sports betting handicappers have been waiting a little while for them to settle their score.
In the first fight, Chagaev’s speed and quickness proved to be too much to handle for Valuev. Everyone knows that Valuev – the biggest heavyweight boxer around – has the power and strength necessary to knock almost anyone out but the problem in the first fight was that he was too slow.
The main difference since the first fight will be Chagaev’s recovery from a torn Achillies. Obviously, his speed was a factor and boxing betting analysts need to know that his quickness is still there or he could become a sitting duck in front of a power puncher.
But in reality, Valuev is more of a circus freak show than he is a good boxer. He is an absolute giant and the boxing betting world has been itching for him to become something better than what he is, but he simply isn’t capable.
Valuev is a big oaf and just from sheer size, if he connects, he’s going to rock someone’s world. But when it comes down to boxing skills, the cupboard is empty.
His last fight against Evander Holyfield was a good example. Holyfield, who passed his prime nearly a decade ago and came out of retirement to fight Valuev, nearly beat him. Many pundits actually feel Holyfield won the fight.
Nonetheless, the slow-prodding Valuev will get back into the ring against Chagaev for their anticipated rematch.
The fight was close the first time out and it is generally a battle of not only quickness versus power, but it’s a test of whether Chagaev can get inside of Valuev’s reach and do some damage.
In the first fight, Chagaev was more than capable of it and nothing has really changed to indicate it can’t happen again. As long as Chagaev doesn’t get caught, he should be able to outpoint Valuev.
While Valuev has probably passed the high point of his career, Chagaev is on his way up. Another win over Valuev would likely set up a bout with one of the Klitschko brothers.
Boxing betting fans should see a good heavyweight fight this weekend as both fighters are relatively evenly match but expect to see another Chagaev decision win.
