Not surprisingly Trinidad and Tobago go into the second semi final of the Champions League Twenty20 as favourites against South Africa’s Cape Cobras.

The hit of the tournament, Trinidad’s popularity has grown with each and every one of its four consecutive wins.

The only unbeaten team at this the inaugural event, Trinidad to many have exploded onto the scene however with three regional one-day titles and the domestic T20 title to their name, the Caribbean team is no stranger to success.

Now with a world title beckoning, it’s time for the Jamaican team to show their wares against the best that South Africa has to offer.

And they offer a lot.

The winner of this semi-final faces the prospect of winning either US$1.3 million or US$2.5 million, a handy windfall for a struggling club like Trinidad or the Cape Cobras.

As NSW showed against Victoria in the first semi-final, setting a big total is the key to success and something that if the Cobras are to succeed, will need to do.

They have the fire power in JP Duminy and Herschelle Gibbs however Trinidad has shown they also have the arsenal to post and chase big scores and should be considered favourites to win this tournament if not for one man – Kieron Pollard.

Pollard has already destroyed NSW bowling attack, in fact he has done the damage against everyone he has come up against but not only is he striking the ball well but his team mates have also chimed in with aggression.

The likes of Lendl Simmons, Adrian Barath and William Perkins have all shown they can smack scores quickly.

Their real strength as has been pointed out here many times is their varied bowling attack, something that will need to fire if they are to prevent the Cobras from scoring a big total.

If Dwayne Bravo for one can provide his team with runs and wickets, the Cobras will be nothing short of target practice.

The Cobras will want Charl Langeveldt to step up to the plate and live up to his giant killer status with the ball but all indications point to the favourites moving through to a well deserved finals clash against NSW.
