The campaign started with Ryan Newman winning the 50th running of the Daytona 500 at 20/1 ($100 bet to win $2,000). The win was Newman's first in 81 Cup races and a first for Penske, a 14 time winner in the Indianapolis 500.

In the most recent race, Carl Edwards took the checkers in California at 8/1 ($100 bet to win $8,000) on Monday. It was his first victory at Fontana and eighth Cup win in his career.

The COT (Car Of Today) is being used for the entire Sprint Cup schedule in 2008 and its creating an even playing field, which makes for a bet friendly environment and healthy payouts.

A year ago, Jimmie Johnson and teammate Jeff Gordon ended 1-2 in the season points. Johnson won his second straight Cup title and the team racked up 18 victories in 36 races. The Hendrick contingent also won 9-of-16 races in which NASCAR’s COT was raced.

The Hendricks duo hasn't found Victory Lane in 2008, but Johnson could be the next money-maker for those who bet on NASCAR, as he goes for his fourth straight win in Las Vegas. Johnson finished 29th at Daytona but bounced back Monday with a strong second-place run.

Lady Luck is bound to make herself present in the Hendricks' garage sooner or later and there's no better place to do so than Las Vegas. Johnson and Gordon are among the favorites to win Sunday's UAW-Dodge 400. They will be tough to beat and should always be given respect by the NASCAR wagering public.

If you wager on NASCAR, and you're searching for a dark horse with larger odds and payouts, try Matt Kenseth. Before Johnson began his three-race win streak in Sin City, Kenseth posted back-to-back wins here in '03 and '04.
