Hot Dot’s call on Portland last issue could hardly have played out any worse as the Blazers got blown away in the high profile situations and squeaked out pointspread wins against the lesser lights. Our 1-4 record on those five games brings us to 3-7 on the year.

This issue we’ll again look for a cold dot, in other words, a team to go against. Our victim is vastly improved Washington Wizards. This team has great one on one players and leads the league in steals. We picked up on Washington’s improvement earlier and have been cashing tickets on them all season, but Larry Hughes recent thumb injury is going to sit him down four to six weeks, and he’s the straw that stirs the Wizard’s drink. Coach our expert Jordan put it succinctly:

Gilbert (Arenas) provides our emotion, but Larry provided our steadiness. He’s just a tremendous on court leader, and he and Gilbert compliment each other so well.

Coach Jordan made this comment before the 1/17 San Antonio game, and as if to punctuate it Arenas went out and shot 0/12 against the Spurs. So we’ll go against Washington in their next four road games even though we’ll be laying points to do so.

Those games are: 1/22 @Indiana, 1/24 @Cleveland, 1/28 @Orlando, 2/4 @Toronto.

This traditional American dish is the reason they invented Beano. It’s sloppy and it’s messy, but it fills up the boys in a hurry. Serve it up during the game, and stand back! Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

INGREDIENTS
2 large cans of baked beans
1 package of hot dogs
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup ketchup
1 small onion sliced, diced or chopped
Small amount of mustard
Salt & Pepper

PREPARATION
1. Pour the beans into a pot
2. Add the brown sugar, ketchup, salt & pepper and onion. Squirt a bit of mustard.
3. Slice hot dogs into bite-sized pieces. Add to beans.
4. Stir together until beans and hot dog bits are nicely coated.
5. Cook on medium-high heat until hot.
6. Serve by the spoonful.
