The Detroit Tigers continued their remarkable journey by sweeping Oakland in the AL Championship Series, and now they'll play in the World Series for the first time in 22 years. The worst team in baseball over the past 13 seasons, the club that suffered through 119 defeats only three years ago, will make its first Series appearance since 1984.
The Tigers face the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday in Game 1, who downed the New York Mets in the NL championship series. Albert Pujols and the Cardinals now look to end the Tigers' incredible run in this great fall classic. This will be the second World Series match-up between the two, as Detroit beat the Cardinals in Game 7 of the 1968 Series.
