 With the February 27th trade deadline looming, the NHL is gearing up for another season of "Rent that Star!" In the past, teams like Toronto, Detroit, and New York have been able to shore up their lines with rental players while giving up a silly amount of prospects and draft picks. The new collective bargaining agreement has curbed some of the high spending that teams can usually afford, but the Forsberg trade has proven that a big shake-up could be in the immediate future. The price for former Philadelphia forward, Forsberg, was immense. Nashville ended up saying their goodbyes to prospect forward Upshall, defenseman Parent, a first and a third-round pick to get the talented and oft-injured playoff powerhouse. The drop-off in talent after Forsberg is immense, but the price has been set at what teams are looking for in return for a rental player.
