Golf Betting 2007 – Lefty Leads FedEx Cup Playoffs

This is the kind of golf everyone wanted to see on the final day of the golf betting who wagered on Tiger was burned by his second place finish.

Brett Wetterich and Arron Oberholser finished at minus-14, along with Woods who rained in unbelievable approaches and drives. But Mickelson stood fast and answered Tiger’s roar with some boastful play of his own. When Oberholser failed to chip in on the eighteenth for eagle, Mickelson had it in the bag.

More importantly, Mickelson finally got the best of Tiger. Woods, who terrifies the top of the leaderboard when he’s playing catch-up, has gotten the best of Phil throughout their sordid rivalry for the most part. Phil has only one won tournament when he has been paired with Tiger, taking home the 2000 FedEx Cup.

Lefty takes home $1.26 million along with a 2,413 point lead in the FedEx Cup Standings. Though Phil may have finally beaten Tiger, the number-one ranked player in the world is hot on his heels with 103,733 FedEx Cup points to Phil’s lead of 108,613. K.J. Choi and Rory Sabbatini round out the top-5.

Meanwhile the iron man of the PGA Tour, Vijay Singh, has been playing poorly on the opening days of the last two tournaments and finished this past weekend’s tournament tied for 61st. Jim Furyk, who was second in the FedEx Cup Standings, misled those that bet online astray with another mediocre performance. Those that invested in these models of consistency have been nothing but disappointed.

The BMW Championship, the third leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, will be held in Chicago - but it might be without the FedEx Cup point leader (again). Mickelson has been non-committal about playing, citing that he is conflicted between the need to spend time with his family, who have sacrificed plenty to support him while on tour.

That being said, if Mickelson does not participate in the BMW, then the FedEx Cup points leader is again giving the field a chance to catch up. Tiger missed The Barclays as the leader, and is fortunate enough to still be third after finishing second this past weekend. Will Lefty enjoy the same privilege?

Tiger is still the undeniable favorite to win the FedEx Cup in the BetUS.com golf odds, but those bettors who are late to the Lefty Bandwagon might want to look elsewhere for a profitable wager. And look no further then Steve Stricker. The American putting ace is coming off two solid tournaments and should be a terrific underdog to invest your betting dollars behind.

As the BMW Championship approaches, BetUS.com will keep you updated on the all news you need to know before throwing down your betting dollars. Check our locker room for more updates as we get closer to the weekend.
