Golf Update - Tiger and Paddy set to throw down for BMW Championship

Round 2 isn’t even in the books yet, but I’m ready to call it. The winner of the BMW Championship after Sunday’s 4 th round will be either Tiger Woods or Padraig Harrington.

After the 1 st round on Thursday, Steve Marino and Rory Sabbatini, very good golfers in their own rights were tied atop the leader board at -5. Bo Van Pelt and Marc Leishman were both at -4, and Tiger and Paddy were at -3.

Two strokes off with an entire weekend of golf to play? Is there any doubt that the final pairing will come down to arguably the two best golfers in the world, Padraig and El Tigre?

I don’t think so. Between making online bets in the BetUS online sportsbook on football games and baseball games, gamblers should sneak in a wager or two on either Tiger or Padraig. An El Tigre vs. Paddy match-up in the final round on Sunday is probably the surest thing in online betting this weekend.

Stricker Falls Off

Last week’s Deutsche Bank Championship winner, Steve Stricker, has fallen off in the BMW Championship. Maybe, someone reminded him that after his Deutsche Bank Championship victory he had taken the lead over Tiger Woods in the FedEx Cup Championship Standings. Stricker won’t be in the lead after Sunday when Tiger finishes no worse than second in the BMW, but he could be in second place.

He is 6 strokes off at +1 right now but he’s not in danger of missing the cut, not yet anyhow, and should play this weekend and into next week’s final FedEx Cup Playoff Event, the Tour Championship.

Lefty and Sergio Make a Weekend Run?

Could Phil “Lefty” Mickelson and Sergio Garcia make a weekend run for the BMW Championship? Perhaps. Tiger and Paddy have a big lead over the other two golfers that are part of the fictional Big Four, but both Mick and Sergio are only 5 strokes off at even par.

Both guys could make a serious run this weekend for the BMW Championship. Lefty has had plenty of time to recoup from his emotional vacation with his family in July and Sergio is finally, after almost an entire year, finding his best swing.

It would be a great thing for golfing fans, and golf betting fans, if the final four players on the course on Sunday were Mick and Sergio in one group and El Tigre and Paddy in the other.

Now, that would cause some of us to switch away from the NFL and check out golf for some time!
