With barely a dry spot in sight, La Costa looked more like a swamp than a golf course but the Match Play Championship got under way yesterday and 9 of the Top 10 seeds advanced. Tiger Woods, a two-time defending champ won his 13th consecutive match, while current No.1 seed Vijay Singh made his way to a 4- and 3- victory.
