No Favorites Highlight Ryder Cup Wagering

I was pleasantly surprised when I logged onto the BetUS Ryder Cup. There isn’t a real favorite among the bunch.

That goes for both online golf betting odds.

Let’s get to it!

Best Online Wagering Interests to Finish As the Top Player in The Ryder Cup

1. Anthony Kim - - online betting odds + 1400 - - Kim is, as Rick Reilly from Sports Illustrated stated, “A bad ass.” He’s been a top ten finisher in most of his tournaments this year. He’s got the right attitude to be the Sergio Garcia of the American contingent. Those online wagering odds are nice. I’ll take it.

2. Sergio Garcia - - online betting odds + 750 - - Nobody has been as good in Ryder Cup play in recent years as Sergio Garcia. Nobody. The guy has all of the tools and he uses every single one of them. He’s a verifiable tough guy out there on the links. While every other golfer in the world lives to play in majors, Sergio lives to play in the Ryder Cup. His determination is unquestioned. I’m surprised the online betting odds are so high on this guy. He’s an overlay at + 750.

3. Kenny Perry - - online betting odds + 1800 - - The 47 year old Perry went downhill towards the end of the PGA season, but that’s okay. Nobody knows the Valhalla course in Kentucky better than Perry. He’s a native Kentuckian and that could make all the difference.

4. J.B. Holmes - - online betting odds + 4000 - - Yes, this is his first Ryder Cup. Yes, his online betting odds say he has no chance. But like Perry he grew up in Kentucky and played the Valhalla course with regularity. Unlike Perry, he’s probably not going to pull off the upset. Why is he so high on my list? I just feel like I have to take a swing with the guy at those online betting odds.

5. Phil Mickelson - - online betting odds + 900 - - Lefty actually had a bad season. He won only two tournaments, played terribly in the majors, and couldn’t step it up once Tiger Woods went to the bench. That means he’s got some work to do in the Ryder Cup. It also means that he could jump up and really get good at the right time for the Americans.

6. Lee Westwood - - online betting odds + 1000 - - Westwood excels in these situations. There’s just no other way to write it. His competitive juices rise to a whole other level when he’s in a Ryder Cup. I like his chances to be number one in this thing.

7. Padraig Harrington - - online betting odds + 1000 - - Padraig is about as good of a golfer in the world as anybody. He’s won two majors in a row. That has to count for something. But his record in The Ryder Cup has been shameful. To me, it means his online betting odds might be too low to warrant a wager. Then again, this is Padraig Harrington who knows how to close deal. Tough call.

8. Justin Leonard - - online betting odds + 1600 - - Okay, so Leonard didn’t have a great PGA season, but he’s still one of the most talented golfers around. Like Lefty he’s got a chance to make amends to online wagering fans by being the top player in this year’s Ryder Cup. We shall see.
