PGA Golf Picks - WGC CA Group Betting

Golf is such a fickle sport. Bettors sometimes might have better luck finding bets that will increase their chances of victory than betting on a single golfer to actually win the tournament.

That includes taking lower odds in order to increase the golf wagers for bettors to make profits from.

Let’s take a look at the best bets in Tournament Group Betting for the WGC CA.

Golf:  WGC CA Tournament Group Betting

Group A

This is a tough group with Geoff Ogilvy, Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia all in this group.  Ogilvy is the favorite in the sportsbook at +200.  Mickelson and Garcia are both second choice at +300.  Rory McIlroy and Anthony Kim round out the group at +400

Pick:  Anthony Kim at +400

Analysis:  Kim is the best bet in this group because he’s going off at the best odds.  With Garcia and Mickelson both prone to mental lapses, the golfer in this group with the best chance of upsetting Geoff Ogilvy is Anthony Kim.  This is a tough group and Kim by no chance is a lock, but at double the odds over Ogilvy, I’ll bet him to win this group.

Group B

This too is a tough group with every golfer in Group B seemingly capable of winning the group.  The favorites are Zach Johnson and Ernie Els at +280.  Paul Casey and Henrick Stenson are both at +300 and Jim Furyk is at +325.

Pick:  Jim Furyk at +325

Analysis:  Every gambler who lays down money on golf knows that Furyk is one of the most consistent golfers on the tour.  Els and Johnson are tough, but both of those guys are going off at lower odds than Jim.  Casey and Stenson have decent shots at +300 but are their chances of winning any better that Jim Furyk’s?  I don’t think so.  Take the golfer with the better odds if everything else is equal.

Group C

Vijay Singh and Camilo Villegas are both at +280 in this group.  Adam Scott and Padraig Harrington are both at +300 and Robert Karlsson is at +325.

Pick:  Padraig Harrington at +300

Analysis:  Is the 20 extra bucks really that important?  When gambling on golf, it certainly is!  No, Padraig doesn’t have a better chance of winning this group than Vijay or Camilo Villegas, but his chances aren’t any worse than those two guys.  Scott and Karlsson are tough as well, but the odds on Padraig are just too good to pass up.  It doesn’t mean that Padraig automatically wins this group but it does mean that he’s the smart bet.  I’ll bet Padraig at +300 to win Group C.

Group D

Both Steve Stricker and Lee Westwood are the favorites at +280.  K.J. Choi and Robert Allenby are both at +300 and Retief Goosen is at +325.

Pick:  Lee Westwood

Analysis:  I understand that taking Westwood goes against my idea of never betting chalk in golf, but Westwood really does appear to be the best bet in this group.  Both K.J. Choi and Robert Allenby are good and Retief Goosen can be great, but none of those guys have been playing very well.  I will take Westwood over Stricker because of Westwood’s consistency.

Group E

There are three golfers going off at +280 in this group:  Davis Love, Mike Weir and Kenny Perry.  Stewart Cink and Aaron Baddeley are both going off at +325.

Pick:  Mike Weir at +280

Analysis:  This group is extremely tough because Cink, Weir, Perry and Love all have a shot to win the group.  Weir and Perry are both exceptional and I would have chosen either one in another group, but they face each other here.  I’m going with Weir only because I have the felling that Perry, one of my favorite guys on the links, might not be on his A game this week.
