PGA Tour Betting - Best Tournament Matchup Bets for the Canadian Open
by Charles Jay

Paul Casey, Luke Donald and Retief Goosen took the flight from Scotland to Ontario, Canada for this week’s Canadian Open.
Casey, fresh off of his 3rd place finish at the British Open last week, is the golf betting favorite to win his tournament matchup against Donald in the Canadian Open.
Will Casey do it? Or, is Donald ready to upset his fellow, favored, Englishman?
Let’s check out the best tournament matchup bets for this week’s Canadian Open.

Tournament Matchups
- Paul Casey -120 vs. Luke Donald -110 - - It’s tough to look past Casey in this matchup. As well as Donald has been playing (he’s been tearing it up on the European Tour), Casey is the 8th ranked golfer in the world and is coming off of a nice 3rd place finish at the British Open. Casey is also ranked 9th on the PGA Tour in greens in regulation.
Pick: Paul Casey -120
- Sean O’Hair -110 vs. Retief Goosen -120 - - I have no idea why Goosen is favored over O’Hair in this matchup. It makes no sense. Yes, I know. Goosen lost in a playoff to Nathan Green at last year’s Canadian Open but that was at Glenn Abbey GC. This is an entirely different course and O’Hair has been on fire lately. Sean’s finished in the Top 15 in four straight tournaments including a 7th at the British Open last week.
Pick: Sean O’Hair -110
- Stephen Ames -125 vs. Mike Weir -105 - - In a battle between two Canadian players, the edge goes to the guy playing better. That would be…neither! Ames missed the cut at the U.S. Open in his last. Weir finished 80th at the U.S. Open. I’m betting on Weir because I’ve got the feeling, a sneaky, suspicious feeling that he turns his 2010 around with a great Canadian Open tournament run.
Pick: Mike Weir -105
- John Daly -140 vs. David Duval +110 - - These guys used to be two of the best in the world at one time. Not any more. Daly had a great first round at St. Andrews last week but then imploded a bit. Duval has missed the cut in 4 out of his last 5 tournaments. In the other one, the U.S. Open, he finished 70th. Still, I sort of like Duval in this because of the golf odds and the fact that he’s ranked 14th on par 3 birdies or better. There are 5 par 3s at St. George’s. That has to help him in this matchup, right?
Pick: David Duval +110
- Luke Donald -125 vs. Tim Clark -105 - - I absolutely love Clark in this matchup. Clark won The Players Championship earlier this year. More importantly, the man is ranked 7th in overall putting average, 3rd in driving accuracy, and 5th in par 3 birdies or better. Don’t get me wrong, Donald is a badass, but St. George’s really sets up for Clark’s game.
Pick: Tim Clark -105
- Hunter Mahan Ev vs. Camilo Villegas -130 - - Why is Villegas favored over Mahan? Villegas is ranked 170th in par 3 birdies or better and hasn’t done much since winning the Honda Classic in early March. After missing the cut in four straight tournaments, Mahan got it together and finished 37th at the British Open. He’s also ranked 15th in par 3 birdies or better. He’s the pick, man, not Villegas.
Pick: Hunter Mahan Ev
