Tiger Woods Returns - WGC Accenture Match Play Lines

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

Tiger Woods is back. After rehabbing a knee, Woods will take to the links competitively for the first time in 2009. Everybody is hoping that Tiger returns as good as he was when he left.

Of course, from a golf betting fans view the other players. Everybody becomes a long shot when Woods steps onto the golf course.

Will that hold? Or, will Tiger have to play his way back to the top?

Let’s analyze the chances to win of some of the golfers playing in the World Golf Championships, this week’s PGA Tournament.

Golf: WGC To Win

1. Tiger Woods +500 - - I thought long and hard about this bet. Tiger won this last year but the questions surrounding his ability to actually play well first time out made me take a double-take regarding Woods as a viable bet. But the bottom line is that getting +500 on Tiger is an overlay and I have to take the golf odds. If Tiger is as good as before, then forget it. He’ll win again. He won’t hold back in this tournament, that’s for sure. Usually, Woods is going off at 5 to 2. So, I have to take a swing on him at these odds.

2. Sergio Garcia +1600 - - Finally, Sergio shows up. He can win this because he will be ready and Woods might or might not be on his game. Sergio only plays when he feels he has a shot. He must feel he has a shot in this.

3. Camilo Villegas +2800 - - I love the odds on Villegas who can put together four brilliant days at times. He’ll need to in this exceptional field. Villegas has the ability to stick with both Tiger and Garcia. Not a lot of others in here can do that.

4. Anthony Kim +1800 - - Kim, like Villegas and Garcia, is one of those rare golfers that can actually stick with Tiger. He probably won’t, but at the odds he definitely is worth thinking about.

5. Padraig Harrington +3000 - - Padraig has been playing possum the last couple of tournaments. Why? Because he’s been waiting to throw his hat into the ring against Woods. Harrington loves a challenge and Woods, Villegas and Garcia all present a big challenge to him. If the past has shown anything, it’s that Padraig steps it up when he wants to. I love him in this tournament at +3000.

6. Phil Mickelson +1400 - - Mickelson had to hold on for dear life to win the NTO last week. I don’t think he has a terrific chance to repeat but who knows? Phil can string together a few victories if he stays hot.

Best Long Shots

Jim Furyk +4000 - - Furyk played okay last week. Maybe, he steps it up another notch this week. The bottom line is that a golfer that would be going off at +2000 is now going off at +4000 because of Woods. That makes him a good bet.

Kenny Perry +3500 - - Same with Perry who played lights out last year when Woods went to the bench. If he can keep his head about him, Kenny, like always, has a shot to win.

Luke Donald +3500 - - Donald was one of the favorites in the NTO last week. He did okay, but he didn’t win. Maybe, he wins at nice odds in Tiger’s comeback tourney.
