Obama’s Bracket - 5 Reasons Why it’s Better than his Stimulus Plan

With – his picks for which teams will win each game in the tournament. So far, this is the most important thing he has done since becoming president – okay, with the possible exception of debuting his $787 billion Economic Stimulus Plan. One wonders though, wasn’t that bracket just calling to Mr. Obama from across his desk as he prepared the stimulus plan?

We’ve all been there - you’ve saved up and finally bought that new TV, and you’re perfectly happy with the purchase, but as you watch the game you just can’t stop thinking: what if you had bet that money on your favorite team instead?

That question is going through the minds of every sports betting fan today, “What if Obama had bet all $787 billion stimulus dollars on his ”? If it panned out, he could have had enough for TWO stimulus plans! We could all be driving electric Cadillacs!

You can’t please them all as president, but the unbiased journalists here at BetUS Sportsbook feel that President Obama should have acted on that urge. Here’s why, in…

The Top 5 Reasons Obama’s Bracket is Better Than His Stimulus Plan:

Less divisive – While armchair politicians are torn on whether or not Obama’s Stimulus plan will save the economy, everyone can agree that basketball is awesome. If Obama were to bet all those billions of dollars on his bracket picks, Americans would rally behind the presidential teams. College basketball fans are extremely loyal to their teams, but if it meant saving the economy and potentially providing them with a huge “uncle sam’s gamblin’ winnings” tax rebate, most fans would hang up their jerseys for a season and root for whomever Obama had bet on. (Those fans who disagree can march to Washington for what will surely be the most entertaining protest ever.) If the country’s future was riding on these games they would be history’s most watched sporting events. It would be an exciting time to be an American - finally, a war we can all get behind!

Just as likely to come out ahead – With huge upsets every year, college basketball is as unpredictable as it gets. It’s unlikely that even the president will pick a perfect bracket. But let’s be honest, it’s not too likely that the stimulus package will go 63-0 either. We also must account for the “Obama Factor” here - if he needed to, the president could influence the outcome of the games. How?

More, better Obama Speeches – Clearly Obama has proven himself to be an amazing public speaker – If he can fire up over half of the country, just imagine how great he’d be at pumping up a locker room! Picture this: You’re in the dressing room at half time. The team you play for is down by 16, and just as you’re beginning to think all hope is lost, Obama pops in to give the team a rousing motivational speech - think JFK’s “ask not what your country can do” meets Gene Hackman in Hoosiers, minus the slow clap - How could you not go back out there and play the best game of your life?

Better Arena Experience – Along with the speeches, the chants they spawned were the most memorable moments of Obama’s campaign. Combine “Yes! We! Can” with “D! Fence!” and multiply it by all the taxpayer money that’s on the line and you have the loudest fans and craziest arena atmosphere of all time.

No AIG Bonus scandals - These athletes don’t get paid a cent, so there would be no overpayment to worry about. (At least not until they make the NBA) But if Obama were coaching, you can bet he would take his team out for pizza after the game, even if they lost.

Though it may be too late to convince congress to reverse the bill and throw it all down on March Madness, BetUS Sportsbook will be keeping an eye on the presidential picks to see how they do, and whether or not America would come out ahead on the greatest bet ever.

Good luck, Mr. President!
