The New York Yankees continue their fall from grace, yet Alex Rodriguez is not the one to blame. The second-year Bronx Bomber is having one heck of a season. While 2004 was a so-called off year for Rodriguez (over 35 HRs and 100RBIs), 2005 has been a monster season. Rodriguez belted two more dingers on Wednesday night, putting him at 19 for the year. At the same time, A-Rod also became the youngest player ever to hit 400 career home runs. In fact, at his relatively youthful age, Rodriguez could have a legitimate shot at the home run record in a few years.
If there was ever a player who got a bum wrap, it’s Alex Rodriguez. All he’s ever done is produce at an unbelievable level on a consistent basis. Yet, he’s on his third team, his second position and is not well liked by all. The reason? His enormous contract he signed with Texas a few years ago. Is it Rodriguez’s fault that Rangers owner Tom Hicks is crazy and offered him more money than any professional athlete has ever been offered before? Would you turn down that amount of scratch?
