Is Jair Enough? - Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies
by BetUS Staff
After dropping their last two games to the Philadelphia Phillies, (54-48 SU, 46-54-2 O/U, 46-56 RL) come into tonight’s matchup looking to get back in the win column and back on track to win their second consecutive NL East title after shocking the Mets in 2007 by making up a seven-game deficit with only 17 games remaining to record one of the most historic late-season comebacks in MLB history.
The Phillies, have dropped four of five overall, including Thursday’s 3-1 loss to the Mets but will turn to one of their better starting pitchers in young right-hander Kyle Kendrick (8-4, 4.87), though Kendrick has struggled recently, going 0-1 with a 6.48 ERA in his last three starts, including a poor outing in his last start in which he allowed a season-high seven runs on 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings of a 9-5 loss to the Florida Marlins on Saturday.
The Phillies will face an Atlanta Braves, (48-53 SU, 35-63-3 O/U, 52-49 RL) team that has won two of their last three games overall including a convincing 9-4 win over the Florida Marlins on Thursday.
Atlanta will counter with talented young right-hander Jair Jurrjens (9-5, 3.22 ERA) who has also struggled lately, going 1-2 with a 4.66 ERA over his last three starts, including, allowing five runs on eight hits to the Washington Nationals in 6 1/3 innings of Atlanta’s 8-2 loss on Saturday.
In the right-hander's lone start against the Phillies on July 3,
Jurrjens allowed four runs on eight hits in seven innings of a 4-1 loss to Philadelphia in his only start against the Phillies on July 3 while Kendrick has recorded a perfect 3-0 record with a 4.13 ERA in five career starts against the Braves.
Here is a look at tonight’s key online sports wagering trends followed by my analysis and MLB online betting Free Picks.
The Braves are 5-0 in Jurrjens' last 5 starts during game 1 of a series.
The Braves are 5-1 in Jurrjens' last 6 starts vs. a team with a winning record.
The Phillies are 5-0 in Kendrick’s last 5 Friday starts.
The Phillies are 6-0 in Kendrick’s last 6 starts with 5 days of rest.
The Under is 5-0 in Jurrjens' last 5 starts with 5 days of rest.
The Over is 5-0 in Kendrick’s last 5 Friday starts.
The Phillies are 4-0 in Kendrick’s last 4 starts vs. Braves.
The Under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
The Braves are 5-16 in the last 21 meetings.
Analysis: If nothing else, I expect the Phillies to put some runs up on the board tonight against Jurrjens as they eke out a close victory over the Braves. It may not be pretty, but take the Phillies to win this matchup tonight and get back in the win column for BetUS MLB online bettors.
