MLB BETTING – AL $$$ Power Poll through 9/7
With Labor Day having come and gone, teams are in the home stretch of the baseball betting season. Find out where your squad ranks as BetUS.com presents this week’s American League $$$ Power Poll…
1) Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (81-55, +$1,962) (4-3, -$88 LW) (LW: 1) A five-game lead in the AL West still feels awfully comfortable for the Halos, but they’re not going to want to take their foot off the gas pedal any time soon. Before allowing six runs yesterday to KC, Anaheim had only allowed a total of ten runs to score against it in its L/7 games.
On Deck: vs. Mariners, vs. White Sox
2) Texas Rangers (76-60, +$1,935) (4-3, -$17 LW) (LW: 2) After losing back-to-back games to the Orioles in Baltimore, the Rangers were rained out to kick off a three-game set in Cleveland on Labor Day. Now, they’ll play their second twin bill in seven days today, facing a 2.5-game deficit in the AL Wild Card race.
On Deck: Away @ Indians, Home vs. Mariners
3) New York Yankees (89-50, +$1,235) (7-2, +$455 LW) (LW: 4) With another fantastic week, the Yanks are now counting their magic number to lock up both the AL East and the best record in the American League. They’ve got nine on the Red Sox and 6.5 on the Halos, so this shouldn’t be difficult. With enough offense down the stretch, scoring 1,000 runs on the season isn’t totally out of the realm of possibility.
On Deck: vs. Rays, vs. Orioles
4) Seattle Mariners (72-66, +$821) (4-3, +$42 LW) (LW: 5) Barring a miraculous comeback, Seattle’s season is probably over, but somehow, it keeps finding a way to stay in this playoff discussion week after week. A slew of games against its top AL West opponents this week should prove to be the final blow.
On Deck: @ Angels, @ Rangers
5) Boston Red Sox (79-58, +$812) (3-4, +$10 LW) (LW: 3) Here’s a switch! The Red Sox had a losing record for the week, but still posted a winning margin for its baseball bettors! Manager Terry Francona isn’t going to like the fact that his squad dropped three out of four at US Cellular Field this week though, especially with the Rangers hot on their trail.
On Deck: vs. Orioles, vs. Rays
6) Detroit Tigers (75-61, +$708) (6-1, +$481 LW) (LW: 6) Thanks to six straight wins, the Tigers have finally appeared to put away the Twins and White Sox and should be headed to a date with the Yankees in the first round of the MLB playoffs. A nice, easy schedule is on deck, so a collapse shouldn’t be in the cards this week.
On Deck: @ Royals, vs. Jays
7) Chicago White Sox (69-70, -$283) (5-3, +$147 LW) (LW: 8) The goal that the White Sox have for the rest of this season is to finish at .500 or better. They helped that cause by surprisingly taking three out of four from the Red Sox at home, and they’ve now won six of their L/7 overall.
On Deck: vs. Athletics, @ Angels
8) Oakland Athletics (61-76, -$449) (5-3, +$135 LW) (LW: 9) Of all of the “bad” teams in baseball, the A’s have probably had the fewest failures of them all. A string of road games are coming up after splitting a four-game set with the Mariners.
On Deck: @ White Sox, @ Twins
And the rest…
9) Minnesota Twins (69-68, -$571) (4-3, +$90 LW) (LW: 10)
10) Tampa Bay Rays (72-66, -$690) (2-7, -$535 LW) (LW: 7)
11) Cleveland Indians (60-76, -$1,512) (2-4, -$180 LW) (LW: 11)
12) Baltimore Orioles (56-81, -$1,645) (4-4, -$179 LW) (LW: 12)
13) Toronto Blue Jays (61-76, -$2,020) (3-6, -$242 LW) (LW: 13)
14) Kansas City Royals (52-85, -$2,625) (2-5, -$129 LW) (LW: 14)
