Is An Under Run Total The Smartest Baseball Betting Move For Friday Night?

With a slew of exciting pitching matchups highlighting Friday's Baseball Betting, should you strictly bet Under's this evening?

Let's take a look, as the Yankees visit the Orioles, and the Angels host the Red Sox Friday night.

New York Yankees (10-6 SU, 6-10 R/L, 10-6 O/U) at Baltimore Orioles (8-10 SU, 8-10 R/L, 9-9 O/U)

Friday, April 22: 7:00 p.m., Live from Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, MD

Betting Odds:

New York: -1 ½, -115, -190
(C.C. Sabathia-L)

Baltimore: +1 ½, -150, +160
(Brad Bergesen-R)

Run Total:

Over 8 ½: -115
Under 8 ½: -105

Starting in Baltimore, one of baseball's best pitchers will take the bump, when Yankees manager Joe Girardi gives his big lefty C.C. Sabathia the ball.

Sabathia hasn't been his quintessential self this year, but it's more because of a lack of run support than anything else. His record stands at just 0-1, despite the fact that he's got a 2.52 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 25 innings.

What will be interesting to see in Friday's Baseball Betting matchup though, is whether that run support will improve. The Yankees have been solid at the dish, with a stacked lineup average 5.5 runs per game. However, Baltimore starter Brad Bergensen hasn't been too shabby himself on the mound, with a 3.38 ERA, through two starts. He also made a relief appearance against New York, allowing no earned runs in two innings.

So with two quality pitchers on the mound, we'll say to take a narrow Yankees Money Line win, but also the UNDER here. We know that the Orioles probably won't score much (they're batting just .235 as a team), and with Bergesen holding New York's bats in check, it'll be low scoring all around.

Baseball Betting Pick: New York Money Line (-190) and UNDER 8 ½ Runs (-115)

Boston Red Sox (7-11 SU, 7-11 R/L, 9-8-1 O/U) at Los Angeles Angels (12-7 SU, 10-9 R/L, 5-13-1 O/U)

Friday, April 22: 10:00 p.m., Live from Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, CA

Betting Odds:

Boston: -1 ½, +140, -115
(Jon Lester-L)

Los Angeles: +1 ½, -160, -105
(Dan Haren-R)

Run Total:

Over 7: -105
Under 7: -115

Speaking of pitching duels, we'll have one for the ages out in Anaheim. We know how good Jon Lester of the Red Sox is, but is Angels righty Dan Haren better right now?

It's a fair question, as through five starts Haren has been about as good a pitcher as anyone in baseball. He's one of only four pitchers in baseball with four wins, and his 1.16 ERA is nothing short of incredible. It leads the American League. Haren hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his five starts.

But really, is Haren a safe bet against the red-hot Lester? Sure Lester's numbers aren't up to par with Haren's. After all, he's just 1-1 with a 3.20 ERA. However those numbers are skewed by a bad opening day outing against Texas. Since then, Lester has allowed just four earned runs in 20 innings of work.

So ultimately, we're going to tell you take the UNDER here, especially since neither team is hitting particularly well. Boston is batting just .237 as a team, and the Angels have scored more than four runs just once in their last five games.

It seems like a low run total is inevitable. Therefore the UNDER is the Baseball Betting pick to make!

Baseball Betting Pick: UNDER 7 Runs (-115)
