Baseball Wagering Weekend Series – Royals at Rangers

The 2011 Major League Baseball season is off to a hot start, and it’s not even summer yet.  With many great betting series this upcoming weekend, BetUS brings baseball wagering fans the best odds on the best spreads in the game.

Let’s take a look at a weekend matchup between two promising American League teams. The Kansas City Royals, sitting in the second slot in the American League Central, will travel to Texas to take on the Rangers.  Currently undefeated at home, the Rangers lead the American League West division and look to extend their home winning streak.

Although the Rangers were the American League champions of the 2010 season, not many baseball bettors expected such a hot start from the Texas team. Even more unexpectedly, the bottom-dwelling Royals of last season are now giving the Cleveland Indians a run for their money in a battle for the top spot in the AL Central.

At the time of this writing, the Rangers have yet to lose a game at home, while the Royals are 3-2 on the road. In Friday night’s matchup, the Royals will send the Canadian Jeff Francis to the stripe.  In what will be his fifth start of the season, his stats don’t show much success, as Francis has earned one loss and three no-decisions so far. With 27 innings pitched, Francis has yielded 27 hits. In addition, he has allowed nine runs while getting 14 strikeouts.

On the other side of the mound will be Derek Holland of Texas. Although losing his last outing against the Yankees, Holland has two wins on the season amid 20 complete innings pitched.  The young southpaw has struck out 16 and allowed eight runs.

The Texas bats have struggled since the loss of Josh Hamilton a week ago, but Michael Young has stepped up to lead the team and has been unstoppable, hitting at .354 on the season with eight RBIs.

The starting pitchers for Saturday and Sunday’s games have not been released at the time of this writing.

Texas will face Kansas City amid a ten-game home-stand, which bodes well for them. Based on the team’s stellar home showings and with lots of rest and play in their stadium, the Rangers will be ready for their American League foes.

The best bet in the MLB odds is on the Rangers to dominate the series. Despite the early season success of the Royals, the Rangers have the experience and depth to not only win out this series, but to outlast the long regular season and find the playoffs.
