Giles and Padres on a roll
The Phillies eight in a row the Padres nine in a row coming into Tuesday night's action.I like both clubs, but it is now time to bet against them.
I like to go against teams, especially in MLB, that have won or lost that many games in a row. The Phillies get the Mets in the city of Brotherly Love, while the Friars host Milwaukee on the left coast this week. So take a look in the next few days at those two series, as you may catch a nice dog.
Speaking of dogs, if you signed up for my underdog system, you are doing well. In the lasttwo weeks, the system is 6-3 betting dogs only.
In addition to the dogs system, I am betting a lot of totals. Since I think the ball is “juiced,” it’s only natural to go over. I have been eliminating the pitchers who are doing well, like Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, Curt Schilling, Johan Santana, Atlanta’s John Thompson and John Smoltz. Also, Bronson Arroyo (Reds) and Brandon Webb of Arizona. Aside from them, I pickthree or four games a day and go over. I’m 17-8 overall since May 1st. I figure the way the ball is flying, I’ll take a shot.
I’m going to stick my neck out and go over in the Red Sox – Yankee game on Wednesday, asit’s Schilling vs Mussina… only if it’s 8 ½ or less.
I have a friend who each winter picks two teams who have absolutely no shot to win the pennant and he makes a future bet on them to win it. I have known him 20 years and he caught it once. He had the Braves back in the early ‘90’s, who went from last to first and he had them at 70-1.
Well this year he is in great shape. He has the Rockies and the Reds and both are leading their divisions. The Reason he doesn’t have the Royals is I talked him out of it.
BUNTS -Have you noticed how bad the umpiring is again this year? Did you see the play in the White Sox-Royals game on Sunday? A fly ball landed about 20 feet short of the centerfield fence, it bounce on the warning track, and the ump closest to the play, the second base ump called it a homerun. The embarrassed crew then overruled him. How can this guy still have a job? Generally, the umpiring is sub-par, but it keeps getting worse.-Delmon Young, Tampa Bay’s number 1 prospect in the International League, was hit with a 50-game suspension for throwing a bat and hitting the home plate umpire after he was called out on strikes in a game last week. The 50 gamer is the longest ever in the AAA league.
-Chicago’s Pale Hose have announced that their top pitcher since the All Star break last season, Jose Contreas, may be put on the 15-day DL, for back and hip pain. He will be assessed later today. To hear more fromPete Cataldo, tune in every Wednesday at 3pm EST to www.BetUSradio.com.
