Hottest Road Team in the Majors

Home field advantage in the majors this season has been as important as ever, but not every team has proven to be a welcome guest. The trade deadline has come and gone, so teams will be jockeying for position. Check out BetUS.com’s list of the hottest road teams baseball has to offer…

(Rank) (Team) (SU Road Record, $$$) (SU Road Record in L/5, $$$)

1: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (37-23, +$1,938) (5-0, +$509 in L/5) Not only are the Angels the best MLB betting team in the bigs, but they may be the favorites to win the World Series. Since June 12th, Anaheim has been on a disgusting tear. It is 43-16. In that stretch, the Angels have scored just under seven runs per game, and they’ve netted an insane $2,697 for their baseball bettors. Those are runs of champions. Last night’s victory against Cleveland marked the first time since August 9th in which the Angels were held under five runs in a game. They’re still 8-1 in those nine contests.

2: Florida Marlins (30-28, +$677) (4-1, +$439) The Marlins are arguably the hottest team in baseball right now, and because of it, they are right on the heels of both the Rockies and Giants in the NL Wild Card race. They’ve tallied nine victories in their L/12 games. Since being swept in Washington by the Nationals in their first road test following the All-Star Break, the Fish are 4-1 on the road. SS Hanley Ramirez has scored at least one run in eight straight contests. Florida has had 27 straight games of scoring at least three runs, the longest such streak in the majors. Because of that, the Fish are now averaging over 4.8 runs per game. Since coming over from Washington at the deadline, 1B Nick Johnson is batting .308 with an OPS of a shade below 1.000.

3: Atlanta Braves (31-30, +$153) (4-1, +$339 in L/5) The Marlins may be the team that is drawing all of the attention in the NL Wild Card race, but don’t count out the Braves either. Atlanta is within shouting distance of both the Rockies and Giants as well thanks to the fact that it has won 10 of its L/14 games. Six of those wins came on the road, with five of those six coming on the West Coast. RHP Jair Jurrjens notched his tenth victory of the season last night, making him the third pitcher on Atlanta’s staff (along with Javier Vazquez and Derek Lowe) to reach the double-digit barrier. The Braves can become the first team to field a staff with four 10-game winners in the near future, as Tommy Hanson will inevitably reach that point within his next few starts. If manager Bobby Cox can get his boys to the playoffs, he’s going to have a pitching staff that can match wits with anyone in baseball.

4: Philadelphia Phillies (37-20, +$1,921) (4-1, +$326 in L/5)

5: St. Louis Cardinals (33-29, +$369) (4-1, +$317)
