BetUS MLB betting odds: N.Y. Yankees -115, Minnesota -105; Total 9

The New York Yankees (26-27) from climbing back to the .500 mark, when the two American League teams meet up on Friday night at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. Game time is set for 8:10 PM ET.

Veteran right-hander Mike Mussina (7-4, 4.39 ERA) gets the start for the Yankees, while another righty, Glen Perkins (2-1, 2.77 ERA) will take the mound for the Twins.

At BetUS online sportsbook, New York is listed as a -115 favorite (Minnesota is -105), with a total of nine runs (the Over is -120, while the Under is even money).

Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* NY has won six of its last eight games

* NY has played four of its last six games OVER the total

* NY has lost five of its last seven road games

* NY has played seven of its last eight road games UNDER the total

* MINN has won five of its last six games

* MINN has played seven of its last ten games OVER the total

* MIN has won 12 of its last 18 home games

* MINN has lost five of its last seven home games

* MINN has played five of its last six home games OVER the total

In the HEAD-TO-HEAD sports betting trends:

* NY has won six of the last eight meetings

* NY has won 16 of the last 23 meetings as the road team

* Ten of the last 15 meetings in Minneapolis have gone OVER the total

Since the Twins took a 19-3 pasting at the hands of the Detroit Tigers six days ago, they have reeled off four straight wins, scoring 24 runs in those games. Last night they got a great pitching performance from one of their top prospects, Kevin Slowey, who went the whole distance and gave up just one run. Minnesota has recently slumped a bit at home, but still has a 16-12 record at the Metrodome this season.

The Yankees come into this one having beaten Baltimore on Wednesday, and they got a pretty good outing from Andy Pettitte in that game. Another veteran, Mike Mussina, will take the hill, and he's been up and down this season; two starts ago he gave up seven runs (though only one was earned) in 2/3 of an inning against Baltimore. He yielded four runs in five innings against the Mariners last Saturday. But Mussina is hardly washed up; he went through a period of five starts right before this where he had a 2.76 ERA.

Glen Perkins may be a pitcher to watch. The 25-year-old native of St. Paul has made four major league starts - all this season - and has kept his ERA under 3.00, his WHIP under 1.2, and his strikeout-walk ratio at 4-to-1. He's not had a bad outing to date, and last time he was especially strong, holding the Tigers to one run in 7-2/3 innings, as Minnesota won.

Interestingly, the Yankees have the same record as a favorite (21-20) as Minnesota has as an underdog. New York has averaged just 3.9 runs per game on the road. And they don't have the services of Joba Chamberlain in the bullpen, since he is being moved into the starting rotation. We're not keen on laying a price with the Major League Baseball betting odds.
