National League Power Poll - Down the Home Stretch

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

The final month of the baseball betting season has finally begun! Check out BetUS Sportsbook’s NL Power Poll as we continue through the month of September with a new leader atop the pack…

1) San Francisco Giants (76-62, +$1,305) (4-3, +$74 LW) (LW: 2) For the first time in months, a team not named the Dodgers is on top of the NL betting world. Still, if the playoffs were to start today, the Giants would be left home. This upcoming series with the Dodgers is absolutely a must-win.

On Deck: vs. Padres, vs. Dodgers

2) Colorado Rockies (78-60, +$1,285) (6-1, +$262 LW) (LW: 4) Thanks to four straight wins, the Rocks have pulled to within 3.5-games of the Dodgers in the NL West and maintain a two-game lead in the NL Wild Card race over the Giants. The schedule remains incredibly manageable this week, so their position should only be improved this time next week.

On Deck: vs. Reds, @ Padres

3) St. Louis Cardinals (82-57, +$1,269) (5-2, +$158 LW) (LW: 3) It’s been a long haul to the top, but the Cards are in a dead heat with the Dodgers for the best record in the National League. Home field advantage will be critical to achieve, as SPs Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter have been seemingly untouchable at home of late.

On Deck: @ Brewers, vs. Braves

4) Los Angeles Dodgers (82-57, +$1,258) (4-4, -$164 LW) (LW: 1) What a fall from grace for the Dodgers! They went from being the best betting team in baseball for the longest time to not being the best team in their own city, to not being the best team in their division, to only being the fourth best team in their league. Now the Rockies and the Giants are right on their heels, and missing the playoffs still seems very, very possible.

On Deck: @ Diamondbacks, @ Giants

5) Florida Marlins (72-65, +$500) (4-3, -$189 LW) (LW: 6) Unless the Phillies lose a bunch of games or Florida goes on a huge roll in the final three weeks of the season, its season is probably over. Still, erasing six games with 20 games to play is feasible, but the wins had better start coming in a hurry.

On Deck: @ Mets, vs. Nationals

6) Philadelphia Phillies (77-58, +$480) (2-5, -$455 LW) (LW: 5) Hey, Cole Hamels… Your Phillies had better not blow this lead in the NL East, or every tabloid in New York is going to have your face on it after you called the Mets chokers… A four-game sweep at the hands of the Astros was very costly to end the week.

On Deck: @ Nationals, vs. Mets

7) Houston Astros (67-70, +$206) (5-2, +$378 LW) (LW: 7) The Astros got back above the break-even line this week thanks to a four-game sweep of the Phillies. Can they achieve a .500 record? The schedule sure seems to pan out in their favor for the rest of the season.

On Deck: vs. Braves, vs. Pirates

8) Cincinnati Reds (63-74, -$288) (7-1, +$701 LW) (LW: 11) For the first time in weeks, the Reds put together a great week of baseball. Still, barring getting back near .500 for the season, manager Dusty Baker should still take the fall for an incredibly disappointing season.

On Deck: @ Rockies, @ Cubs

And the rest…

9) San Diego Padres (61-78, -$557) (5-2, +$614 LW) (LW: 12)

10) New York Mets (62-75, -$833) (3-3, +$55 LW) (LW: 10)

11) Milwaukee Brewers (66-71, -$865) (2-5, -$156 LW) (LW: 9)

12) Atlanta Braves (70-67, -$975) (2-6, -$435 LW) (LW: 8)

13) Chicago Cubs (69-67, -$1,390) (4-4, -$49 LW) (LW: 14)

14) Arizona Diamondbacks (61-78, -$1,717) (2-6, -$162 LW) (LW: 15)

15) Pittsburgh Pirates (54-82, -$1,785) (1-7, -$542 LW) (LW: 13)

16) Washington Nationals (47-90, -$3,192) (1-5, -$388 LW) (LW: 16)
