“Take me out to the ballgame” never had as much meaning as it does today – opening day for the majority of Major League Baseball teams.

Of course, MLB Free Picks. So, without further adieu, away we go.

07:05 PM EST

 Zach Duke - L +1½ -115

Roy Oswalt - R -1½ -105

Oswalt is the Astros staff ace, and deservedly so. He can often be overpowering and posted a nice, 15-8 record last season. Duke went 10-15 last season for the Pirates and has a lot to learn, although he does have a very lively arm. I say take the Astros and the veteran Oswalt to win and cover outright.

06:35 PM EST

 Dan Haren - R +1½ -210

 Felix Hernandez -R -1½ +175

Most east coast fans don’t know it, but Hernandez has absolutely electric stuff and is a ground-ball inducing machine who pitched much better than his 12-14 record in 2006 would indicate. Haren inherits the ace’s role in Oakland with the departure of Barry Zito. After posting a 14-13 record last season, Haren could be poised to come close to 20 wins in 2007. I’m going to go with the A’s in this game, only because they are playing in front of their home fans. However, bettors should be cautious when wagering on these two evenly matched teams.
