Cubs Face Lincecum and Giants as MLB Betting Underdogs

Carlos Zambrano made a triumphant return to the Chicago Cubs’ starting rotation on Monday but it didn’t mean that much.  Although Zambrano pitched great, the Cubs still lost the game 4 to 3 in 11 innings as underdogs in the MLB betting sportsbook.

The Cubbies are bigger dogs on Tuesday night because they face San Francisco pitcher Tim Lincecum.  Lincecum is 11 and 5 with a 3.15 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP.  He’s coming off of a rare loss where he gave up 2 home runs and 6 hits in only 6.1 innings of work.  Lincecum hasn’t lost consecutive games in over a month.  He’s the reason that the G-Men are big online baseball bet favorites to beat Chicago tonight.

Will the Cubs find a way to get Lincecum to cough up his second consecutive “L” tonight?

The Cubs send Ryan Dempster to the mound to battle the G-Men.  Dempster hasn’t been horrible in 2010 going 9 and 8 with a 3.76 ERA and 1.31 WHIP.  He was actually very good in his last start against the Milwaukee Brewers when he pitched 6 solid innings and gave up 3 runs, none earned, in a 15 to 3 Chicago victory.

Facing Lincecum and the Giants is a different story, however.  San Francisco has Chicago where they want them.  Cubs’ manager Lou Pinella is still in Florida with his ailing mother.  Derrek Lee is on bereavement leave to be with his ailing grandfather, catcher Geovany Soto was placed on the disabled list with a sprained right shoulder ligament, and the Cubs have lost 11 out of 12 making them a difficult team to back with an online baseball bet tonight.

This is the worst time possible for the Cubbies to have to face a pumped up Lincecum.  Lincecum has lost 2 games in a row only twice this season.  He usually bounces back brilliantly after a loss, and because of extraneous circumstances surrounding Chicago, figures to have no trouble doing so again on Tuesday night.

T.L. should dominate the Cubs from the first inning.  Dempster will pitch a good game at first but then his overall record against San Francisco will come into play.  Dempster is 1 and 7 with a 4.59 ERA in 11 starts against the G-Men.
