The Cleveland Indians. May was simply dreadful for this young club who only managed to win four of their 14 overall road games costing MLB handicappers some significant coin. Overall, they’re 11-18 on the road with their last win away from Kauffman Stadium coming on May 18th. This will be their first meeting with the White Sox this season.
Zach Greinke just so happened to be the victor in the Royals last road win (@ Florida 9-3), and he’ll grab the ball in his 12th start of the young season. He comes into this start 5-2 on the year with a 2.88 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Zach’s been the brightest story in the Royals rotation this year, and he shockingly sports a winning mark on the road at 3-2. His bullpen let him down terribly his last time out after throwing eight innings of three-run ball, but it didn’t hold up as the pen allowed five runs in the 9th with two outs to allow the Twins the opportunity to win it in extras. Greinke’s fared terribly against Chicago in his career going 2-6 with a 4.68 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.
Looking to outdo the Royals right-hander will be Chicago’s Gavin Floyd who won his career best fifth game in his last start on the road against the Cleveland Indians. Gavin’s been a nice surprise for the Southsiders as he currently stands 5-3 with a 3.22 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He’s only allowed 44 hits and 27 runs (24 earned) with a K/BB ratio of 32/27 in a shade over 64 total innings of work. At home, he’s 2-1 with a miniscule 2.35 ERA and 0.82 WHIP, and thrown 17.1 innings combined in his last two home starts allowing a total of three earned runs. He’s made two appearances and one start against the Royals, holding an 0-1 record and 3.38 ERA.
