Sunday Night means one thing - no, not Golden Girls reruns – it means Sunday Night Baseball! You could just bet the game straight up, but don’t neglect your fantasy appetite and win some money on the Sunday Night Baseball Fantasy Matchups:
Group 1:
Chris Young
vs.
Randy Wolf
Chris Young has been impressive since joining the San Diego Padres and recently re-upped to the tune of a four-year $13 M contract extension. So far this season, he has allowed 10 hits and three runs in 12.2 innings pitched. He’ll square off with Randy Wolf, who boasts an impressive 3.75 ERA in two starts this season.
Free Pick: Randy Wolf
Group 2:
Marcus Giles
Brian Giles
vs.
Rafael Furcal
Juan Pierre
The Giles brothers have been hitting at the top of the Padres order this season, but the Padres haven’t managed to generate a ton of runs. The Padres rank 10th in the National League in runs scored and on-base percentage. The LA Dodgers haven’t been much better, but they have been without one of their sparkplugs, Rafael Furcal, at the top of their order. He is expected back for this series.
Free Pick: Rafael Furcal, Juan Pierre
Group 3:
Adrian Gonzalez
vs.
Luis Gonzalez
Adrian Gonzalez doesn’t get much attention in fantasy baseball, but he has the numbers to help out many teams. Hitting out of the cleanup spot for the Dodgers lack a lot of pop in their batting lineup and have knocked out only five home runs heading into this series. Gonzalez has two of them.
Free Pick: Adrian Gonzalez
Group 4:
Khalil Greene
vs.
Nomar Garciaparra
Both shortstops have struggled in the early going of the 2007 season and that is bad news for two teams who are desperate for run production. Greene was batting .250 heading in to the series and Garciaparra was at .235. Garciaparra only had six runs batted in and no home runs in 34 at bats this season and really needs to wake up if the Dodgers plan on being a contender.
Free Pick: Khalil Greene
Group 5:
Termel Sledge
vs.
Wilson Valdez
This is a matchup of two players who have surprised their teams so far this season. Heading into the weekend series, Sledge, who has been a disappointing prospect so far in his career, was hitting .308 in five games this season while Valdez was hitting .368 in eight games.
Free Pick:Wilson Valdez
