The San Francisco Giants behind the performance of young phenom Cole Hamels on Sunday.

However, news that Phillies starter Freddy Garcia may or may not pitch in this game after running into an equipment cart in the Giants outfield on Sunday, could give the Diamondbacks a big advantage.

Though the decision on whether or not Garcia will start won’t be made until game time today, this game offers MLB bettors an excellent opportunity to make some extra cash.

Let’s look at tonight’s trends before I make my pick.

The Phillies are 4-1 in their last five games during game one of a series.

The Phillies are 3-8 in their last 11 games as a road underdog.

The Phillies are 3-9 in their last 12 games vs. a left-handed starter.

The Phillies are 1-4 in their last five road games with the total set at 9.0-10.5.

The Phillies are 1-4 in their last five games as an underdog.

The Diamondbacks are 4-1 in their last five Monday games.

The Diamondbacks are 12-5 in their last 17 games as a favorite.

The Diamondbacks are 7-3 in their last 10 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.

The Diamondbacks are 3-7 in their last 10 games with the total set at 9.0-10.5.

The Over is 11-4 in Phillies last 15 Monday games.

The Under is 12-5 in Phillies last 17 games as a road underdog.

The Under is 7-3 in Phillies last 10 road games with the total set at 9.0-10.5.

The Under is 6-1-2 in Diamondbacks last nine games vs. a right-handed starter.

The Over is 5-1-3 in Diamondbacks last nine games as a favorite.

The Over is 4-1-2 in Diamondbacks last seven games as a home favorite.

The Under is 4-1 in Diamondbacks last five games overall.

The Under is 4-1 in Diamondbacks last five games on Grass.

The Phillies are 5-1 in the last six meetings.

The Phillies are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Arizona.

The Pitchers:

Garcia is 1-2 in four starts covering 19.1 innings and has 19 Ks and six walks to go along with a 6.05 ERA. If he doesn’t take the mound, the Phils’ chances of winning this game will decrease immensely.

Diamondbacks starter Doug Davis is 2-3 in six starts over 36.0 innings. Davis has struck out 28 batters and walked 19 and has a solid 2.25 ERA despite the less-than-stellar record.

I think this game is an easy pick for baseball bettors.

The Diamondbacks, and Davis in particular, are due for something good to happen to them. Arizona is an overachieving team that plays hard in each and every game and should give the Phillies all they can handle.

MLB Free Picks: Take the D-backs, 7-4.
