MLB Odds – Tigers get best of Yankees at Home, Marlins & Tribe Git ‘er Done on Hump Day Road

The dogs just continue not to bark for us in MLB odds action as we were forced to settle for another 1-2 outing and a small loss on Tuesday night.

Neither Washington nor Florida had what it took, but the Cubs found a way to even their series up with the Dodgers behind the best start of the season from Ryan Dempster.

Here’s to churning out a profit tonight!

New York Yankees @ Detroit Tigers

Brad Penny and the Tigers bullpen were simply sensational last night in the Tigers 4-2 home win over the Yanks. This four-game series is now tied at a game apiece, and I’m looking for Manager Jimmy Leyland’s outfit to snag the series lead behind Max Scherzer who enters this spot off a disappointing effort his last time out in which he received a no decision after his teammates staked him a multiple run MLB odds lead into the 7th inning at Cleveland. Mad Max will take to the bump for the sixth time this season sporting a perfect 4-0 record with a 3.82 ERA & a 37-18 K/BB ratio. His opponent, Freddy Garcia, has allowed just 12 hits in his 18 overall IP, but the Yankees are just 3-8 the L/11 times they went off the board as an underdog. With Detroit a perfect 6-0 the L/6 times Scherzer led them into battle in the third game of a series and a perfect 4-0 his L/4 Comerica starts, look for the Tigers to rattle off consecutive MLB odds victories over the Yankees and snag the 2-1 series lead.

Florida Marlins @ St. Louis Cardinals

TV/Radio Broadcast: FOX-Florida & Midwest, XM

MLB Odds

Florida Marlins +1.5 -130 +170

Hmmmmm, I wonder if I’m just not a believer in the Redbirds….lol! Tonight’s game will mark the third meeting of the 2011 MLB odds season between these squads, and for the third straight time, I will be backing the Fish. We’re 1-1 and have posted a small profit after the Cardinals got a clutch three-run bomb from pinch hitter Daniel Descalso to earn the Redbirds the 7-5 come-from-behind victory last night; the HR was the first of the infielder’s career. Regardless, I’m coming right back with the Marlins in tonight’s spot as juicy dawgs against Carpenter whom I don’t believe is worthy of being such a tall chalk anymore; especially against a Marlins squad that’s tallied 19 hits in the first two games of this series. Though he’s just 3-7 in his career vs. STL, Javier Vazquez has pitched admirably vs. them posting a 3.94 ERA & 1.17 WHIP. This will be a fabulous MLB odds pitcher’s duel, and the value is just way too much to pass up with this feisty Marlins outfit!

Cleveland Indiana @ Oakland A’s

Oakland A’s -1.5 +145 -150

A really nice story has started to brew over in Cleveland where the Indians are off to the best mark in baseball at 20-8. In doing so, Manager Manny Acta’s squad has reeled in a shade over $1500 for those that backed them on the MLB odds to date. The Tribe took the series opener last night over the A’s behind a stellar pitching performance from Fausto Carmona who went 8 innings to give the pen a break in the 4-1 win. Josh Tomlin will have his hands full going mano-a-mano with the A’s Trevor Cahill, but his perfect 4-0 mark and 2.45 WHIP leads me to believe he’s ready to perform at an optimum level in this pitcher’s paradise of a ballpark. Oakland’s been a house of horrors for the Indians the last couple seasons (9-24 L/33 visits), but I’m going to throw caution to the wind and look for them to rattle off their eighth straight win and in the process move to 24-5 against the MLB odds the L/29 times they took the field off a ‘W’.
