MLB Playoffs Picks and Detroit vs. Minnesota for a Shot at the World Series

The MLB Playoffs are here, well, almost, and the BetUS online sportsbook will be showcasing each and every game.
This is the best time of year to be a sports fan. The NFL is right at the quarter-mark of the season, the gloves are hitting the ice in the NHL and the World Series is just around the corner!
With all kinds of profits to be made on MLB, lets take a look at some of the matchups that you should consider when heading over to the Sportsbook.
Minnesota Twins
First-pitch: 5:05 pm EST
Detroit – Rick Porcello vs. Minnesota – Scott Baker
Analysis: The Twins are favored at -165 in the sportsbook and Baker is a -1 ½ +130 favorite to beat Porcello. Both pitchers have eerily similar stats, but Minnesota is deadly at home.
The Twins are also red hot, having won 3 out of the four games, which were all must win games to just to get to this position. The Twins do this every year it feels like and will do it again even though without Justin Morneau.
Pick: Minnesota Twins at -165
10/7/2009 Games
Philadelphia Phillies
First-pitch: 2:35 pm EST
Colorado – Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Cole Hamels
Analysis: As expected the Phillies are favorites to open up the defense of their 2008 World Series title but they aren’t as big of favorites as one would expect. Philly is -130 in the sportsbook to beat the Rockies on Wednesday. That makes the Rockies a +110 underdog which means they have a big shot in this game.
Jimenez has decent stuff and the Phillies have been less than stellar lately going 4 and 6 in their last 10. I’m actually calling the upset in this one. I believe that Colorado shocks the Phillies out of the gate mainly because I just don’t have faith in Cole Hamels right now.
Pick: Colorado Rockies at +110
Los Angeles Dodgers
First-pitch: 9:35 pm EST
St. Louis – Chris Carpenter vs. Los Angeles – Randy Wolf
Analysis: Surprisingly, the St. Louis Cardinals are -145 favorites to beat the Dodgers on the road on Wednesday. It’s all due to Chris Carpenter who is a -1 ½ +125 favorite to take down Randy Wolf. Wolf has been pitching much better recently but Carpenter has a 1.01 WHIP and dominates L.A. when he faces them. In fact, the last time Carpenter faced the Dodgers he pitched 8 innings, struck out 8, walked 1, and gave up only 2 runs. The man is magic against L.A. and should do so again. I’m rolling the dice on the run line in this game.
Pick: St. Louis and Chris Carpenter at -1 ½ +125
