MLB Futures 2009 - Get Them in Early!

The NFL just ended its regular season. The NBA is starting to heat up. College basketball betting is getting ready for its run into March.
So, why am I writing an article about the 2009 World Series? Because I am a firm believer that if betting fans want to make an online bet on a team to win the World Series at good odds, they have to jump onto the sportsbook and make those wagers soon. Once things start to settle down in the world of baseball, the online odds are going to shift. Get the good odds while you can.
Let’s take a look at the top six choices so far in the BetUS online sportsbook.
Top Six Betting Choices to Win the 2009 World Series
1. New York Yankees +300 - - Jump on this while you can baseball betting fans. Once the Yankees, with C.C. Sabatthia, A.J. Burnett and Mark Texeira, settle down and start playing ball, their online odds are going to drop to 7 to 5. What’s the deal? Why are these guys still at +300 in the BetUS online sportsbook? I can tell you why. Nobody wants to pull the trigger on a future book bet so early in the year. Pull it. These guys are going to be awesome.
2. Boston Red Sox +800 - - The BoSox should be better this season because their top pitcher, Josh Beckett, should be much stronger after suffering through an injury plagued 2008. Dice-K should be ready to roll as well and Jason Bay, who they picked up by trading Manny Ramirez, will only get better. This team could challenge the Yankees for the top spot in the American League.
3. Chicago Cubs +800 - - Okay, so Lou Pinella didn’t get them to the World Series, but what he did do was get them to play harder than they have in a long time. He also got that pitching staff, led by Ryan Dempster and Carlos Zambrano, to throw lights out for an entire regular season. They’re going to be tough again and Pinella never quits. They’ve got a shot. Just don’t bet the farm, okay? That crazy curse could last another 100 years!
4. New York Mets +900 - - I can’t explain how important a closer like Francisco Rodriguez is to a team with a fantastic pitching rotation. Johann Santana is excellent but don’t sleep on John Maine, Oliver Perez and Mike Pelfrey. If they get their bats going and set up Rodriguez, then this team could go a long way.
5. Tampa Bay Rays +1400 - - In a way they’re going to have to fight even harder this year than last year to get into the playoffs. But they kept their nucleus together and they’re very young. I’m not sure they have the stones to stand up and hit both Boston and New York on the chin again like they did in 2008 but that’s why they’re going off at +1400.
6. Los Angeles Angels +800 - - The Angels were a huge disappointment in the playoffs last season after running rough-shod over the entire American League. They also lost their closer, Francisco Rodriguez. Then again, Brian Fuentes pitched in 67 games last season and racked up 30 saves with a 2.37 ERA. Maybe, the Angels know more than online betting fans do.
Best Long Shot
St. Louis Cardinals +2000 - - The Cardinals get back a healthy Albert Pujols. Adam Wainwright did well last year at the top of the rotation and Joel Pinero and Todd Wellemeyer are serviceable backing him up. Sure, they aren’t as dominating as we have seen them in the past, but they’re a good team and Manager Tony LaRussa is the best in the biz. They could surprise at nice online betting odds and if they get Manny don’t expect these odds to stay the same.
