From Cole Hamels’ near postseason perfection to Francisco Rodriguez and his record-setting 62 single-season saves, the 2009 MLB regular season promises to be another thriller for MLB pitchers everywhere, both starters and relievers.

BetUS MLB sports betting members can ‘get in the game’ on an everyday basis with a series of entertaining season-long Futures Odds that could increase their respective MLB betting bankrolls in a big way.

With Opening Day just around the corner, let’s get started.

Most Wins by any pitcher

Over 20½ wins -140

Under 20½ wins +110

Analysis: This pick is a near-lock to go Over the set O/U total here with at least one pitcher reaching 21 wins in six of eight seasons since 2000, including last season when Brandon Webb and Cliff Lee each recorded 22 wins. Go with the higher percentage wager and take the Over here.

MLB Free Pick: Over 20½ wins

Most Losses by Any pitcher

Over 17½ losses -125

Under 17½ losses -105

Analysis: Last season broke a nine-season string of at least one pitcher recording 18 regular season losses. There haven’t been consecutive seasons of starting pitchers taking less than 18 regular season losses since 1997 and 1998. I’ll stick with the Over in this wager as 18 losses have played out in nine of the last 10 seasons.

MLB Free Pick: Over 17½ wins

Most Saves by any pitcher

Over 49½ saves -125

Under 49½ saves -105

Analysis: Last season broke a three-year drought of no relief pitcher reaching 50 saves with Francisco Rodriguez being the only closer to top the mark, setting a new MLB record for saves in a single season in the process with a whopping 62. Now with the New York Mets, Rodriguez, along with a bevy of other closers, will have plenty of chances. I like the Over here with Rodriguez being the likely closer to reach 50 saves.

MLB Free Pick: Over 49½ wins

Most Strikeouts by any pitcher

Over 253½ strikeouts -115

Under 253½ strikeouts -115

Analysis: While Tim Lincecum topped this O/U total by striking out a whopping 265 batters last season, his feat broke a three-year trend of no starting pitcher reaching 250 strikeouts. Prior to that, at least one starting pitcher over the last 10 seasons had managed to reach the 50-win plateau. I like Under here as I expect Lincecum to take a small step backwards with his season strikeout total.

MLB Free Pick: Under 253½ strikeouts

Most Complete Game by any pitcher

Over 7½ complete games +105

Under 7½ complete games -135

Analysis: While Roy Halladay recorded 9 complete games last season, the third time in the last four season in which he’s led the AL in complete games, he broke a three-season span of no starting pitcher recording at least eight complete games during the regular season. Prior to that, at least one starting pitcher has recorded at least eight regular season complete games dating all the way back to 1871. I like the Over for this wager with history well on the side of at least one pitcher recording at least eight complete games.

MLB Free Pick: Over 7½ complete games
