NASCAR Betting Odds - Jim Stewart 400 Predictions

Saturday night's Crown Royal Presents the Jim Stewart 400 at Richmond International Raceway will provide bettors stellar bumpin' and grindin' action under the lights.

As the COT (Car of Tomorrow) returns for the first of two consecutive races, Richmond should prove to be a track where there is more variety in the top-10 finishers than there has been in the COT's first three races. That makes this race very appealing to bettors across the board.

Jeff Gordon comes into the event on fire. He has the points lead and a ton of momentum, following back-to-back wins, to tie and then surpass Dale Earnhardt in career wins with 76.

But Gordon has struggled at Richmond in recent years, more so than he has on any course in his career, finishing outside the top-30 in his last four attempts. It's hard to not pull the trigger on the four-time Nextel Cup champion, but this race sets up nicely for Gordon to showcase a mulligan type race, as the door opens for a bigger payday.

That payday could be delivered by Kyle Busch. He absolutely loves this three-quarter mile track. He has never finished outside the top-5. Also, he is one of only two drivers to finish in the top-10 in the first three COT races.

Denny Hamlin is another solid selection. He is also stout in the COT cars, who led 177 laps at Bristol, 125 at Martinsville and 70 at Phoenix in the new machines. Two of those three races were short tracks much like Richmond, and with the home crowd supporting him, he should be able to put on a strong show.

While both Kyle Busch and Hamlin are logical investments, the smart money should be placed on Kevin Harvick. He had a good outing last weekend in Talladega, which served as a much needed lift for his team. Richmond is one of his favorite tracks and this race could land him his first career win here.

Harvick has led 440 laps and run all but five laps in the top-15 during the last three Richmond races. His average finish in those races is 6.0. Look for the #29 Chevy Impala in victory lane.
