NASCAR Betting - Sprint Cup Title Odds

Handicappers getting a handle on the Tony Stewart would be successful as the new driver/owner for Stewart-Haas Racing. A.J. Hoyt did well driving his own ride back in the 1970s, but that was a different era in stock car racing. Some preseason prognosticators even had the mercurial Stewart finishing out of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
Looks like the driver known as Smoke has proven doubters dead wrong. Stewart is the current points leader after finishing fourth at the Chicagoland Speedway last weekend, and is the favorite to win the Sprint Cup outright at +200. More consistent than dominant, Stewart has two victories to go along with 15 top 10s and 11 top fives so far this year.
Hendrick Motorsports stud Jimmie Johnson is still in the hunt for his fourth consecutive Series title, 212 points behind Stewart in third place in the standings. Oddsmakers have Johnson priced at +300 to turn the trick after coming eighth in Chicago. JJ has driven extremely well at Indianapolis during his dominant run atop NASCAR, and looks to use next week’s race at the Brickyard as a springboard for his many backers.
Teammate Mark Martin (+500). Second in three of the last five races, Gordon is always a sharp futures play.
Martin’s triumph at the LifeLock.com 400 lifted the 50-year-old veteran of the Series into 11th place in the standings and a position in the Chase. The driver of the No. 5 car has four wins this season – the most of any driver – after taking a total of four checkered flags from 2000-08. Martin had been struggling before Chicago, with finishes of 35th, 14th, and 38th in the three previous events.
There’s value in Roush Fenway Racing top dog Carl Edwards (+700), who is in sixth place in the points standings despite failing to win a race this season. Edwards was headed for his sixth top 10 in eight starts at Chicagoland, but he was shuffled to the back of the pack in the wave of restarts. With five top fives and nine top 10s this season, Edwards is banking on getting back on track at the Brickyard after finishing out of the top 10 in three of his last four races.
