NASCAR Power Rankings: Kyle Busch Makes His Way to the Top

Kyle Busch finally came through with his first victory of the season this past Sunday in the Shelby 427.
Even though Matt Kenseth won the first two races of the year, Kyle’s victory was more than enough to catapult him to the top of the BetUS Sportsbook NASCAR Power Rankings. Kyle could stay at the top for a long time this year.
Let’s take a look at the NASCAR Power Rankings.
NASCAR Power Rankings
1. Kyle Busch - - Busch was +600 to win the Shelby 427. He did so by holding off Clint Bowyer and Jeff Burton after a strange day in Las Vegas. The Shelby win, coupled with his fourth place finish in the Auto Club 500 two weekends ago, makes him the best for now.
2. Matt Kenseth - - At +1000 not a lot of gamblers felt that Matt would win his third race in a row. Boy, were they right! Kenseth’s engine blew early on in the Shelby 427 and Matt finished last. But I can’t drop him too far in the power rankings because his victories at Daytona and in the Auto Club 500 were both very impressive.
3. Jeff Gordon - - Gordo has returned to the consistency that made him one of the top five drivers in NASCAR history. His fifth place finish in the Shelby 427 is a sign that he’s on the cusp of a victory because it comes on the heels of a 2nd place finish in the Auto Club 500.
4. Greg Biffle - - It’s time to start recognizing what a great driver Biffle is. He finished 7h in the Shelby 427 after a 4th place finish in the Auto Club 500. At odds of +600 Biffle made a nice run in the Shelby.
5. Brian Vickers - - Yes, he’s really this good. After the 10th place finish in the Auto Club 500, Vickers came right back and finished 5th in the Shelby 427. At odd of +5000, it’s time to think about making a wager on this guy.
6. Clint Bowyer - - Bowyer was going off at huge odds in the Shelby 427, +6000, but he came through with a second place finish. At Daytona, Bowyer finished 4th. Like Gordon, he’s on the cusp of a victory.
7. Jimmie Johnson - - The Champ, at +500, was terrible in the Shelby. In fact, he hasn’t been all that good so far this season finishing 31st at Daytona and 9th in the Auto Club 500. He finished 24th in the Shelby 427. Why is he still on this list? Well, he is the champ and it’s only a matter of time before he proves it.
8. Tony Stewart - - It was a strange run for Smoke who looked like he might make a run for the checkered flag before sort of petering out and finishing 26th in the Shelby. Two straight 8th place finishes at Daytona and in the Auto Club 500 means he isn’t driving terribly, but he needs to start stepping it up or bettors will begin to look elsewhere.
9. Jeff Burton - - Burton finally made a nice run in the Shelby at odds of +5000. Before finishing 3rd in the Shelby, Burton looked horrible at both Daytona and in the Auto Club 500, but his Shelby run makes him a player.
10. Carl Edwards - - What’s up with Carl? Last year he was one of the most consistent drivers in NASCAR, this year, so far, he hasn’t done jack. The 7th place finish in the Auto Club 500 was nice, but at odds of +500 in the Shelby 427, bettors expected much more than an 18th place finish.
