Stewart and Johnson are Best Bets to Win the Sprint Cup Crown

The Sprint Cup Chase is still some weeks away, but both Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson figure to be the best wagered upon drivers to win the Sprint Cup.

Johnson has won NASCAR’s Championship three years running and it is a well known fact among fans making future book bets that Jimmie and his team start to heat up the closer we get to The Chase.

But Jimmie and Smoke aren’t the only two drivers with a huge shot to win the Sprint Cup Championship…or are they?

Let’s take a look at some of the better bets and not so good bets in the BetUS online sportsbook.

Best Bets

Tony Stewart at +200 and Jimmie Johnson at +300 might look like bad bets to win the Championship, but Stewart is averaging a 7th place finish, roughly, in races this year. That’s amazing. It also makes him a good bet in the Sportsbook to win the Sprint Cup Championship his first year as an owner/driver.

Jimmie at +300 is terrific bet. How can any gambler not recognize the accomplishment of Johnson and not try to capitalize? Jimmie has won the Sprint Cup three years in a row. It’s an amazing feat. Betting on either one of these two at this point would make for a solid wager.

Bad Bets

Even though Mark Martin has won four races this year, taking him at the low odds of +400 in the sportsbook to win the Sprint Cup makes no sense. Martin’s pattern has been to win a race one week and then finish out of the top 30 the next week.

Same goes for Kyle Busch whose odds of +800 just don’t justify the fact that he’s one of the most inconsistent drivers on the track every week. The other driver to steer clear of right now? That would be Jeff Gordon who’s continued back problems and tendency to underperform during The Chase makes him a terrible wager at +350.

Best Double-Digit Odd Wagers

How about Smoke’s teammate, Ryan Newman, who has been consistent for most of this year at +1200?

Then there’s both Kasey Kahne and Kurt Busch at +1500. Busch has been having a solid 2009 and Kahne has turned it on in recent weeks. Either guy would be a good bet.

Finally, Denny Hamlin at +1500, who might be the better of the two top drives for Joe Gibbs Racing, has found a way to finish in the top 15 consistently. He could be a force once The Chase starts.

Best Long Shot

Without a doubt the best long shot bet right now is on Juan Pablo Montoya at +4000. Montoya has steadily made his way up the NACAR Power Rankings and has finally found a way to get himself into the top ten almost every week.

That consistency is what it takes to win The Chase. Montoya? No way! I know, sounds crazy, but at 40 to 1, he might be worth a shot.
