NASCAR: Odds to Win in the Qualifying Round?

Before drivers can suit up, get in their cars, and take to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Shelby American, they have to qualify for the race.
This tradition happens every week, about two days before the race. The winner of the qualifying round gets the pole. The pole-sitter not only receives points towards the Cup Chase but also puts himself in the best position to win the race.
Luckily for sports gamblers, the NASCAR sportsbook offers wagering on the qualifying round.

NASCAR: Shelby American Qualifying Matchups
- Kurt Busch -110 vs. Kyle Busch -120 - - there’s really no love lost between the “Brothers Busch”. Last week in the Auto Club 500, Kurt started 12 th and Kyle started 9 th. At the Daytona 500, Kurt started 10 th and Kyle started 7 th. Two races are in the books and Kyle hasn’t won one yet. He’s going all out on Friday to get into the top 10 again and warrants a bet in this matchup.
Pick: Kyle Busch

- Kasey Kahne -175 vs. Greg Biffle +145 - - Money has rolled in on Casey already but is it justified? Kasey started 4 th in the Daytona 500 and 4 th in the Auto Club 500. Biff hasn’t come close to that with a 23 rd and 35 th start at Daytona and Fontana respectively. So, Kahne is the bet to start ahead of Biffle even though Biffle has been finishing better.
Pick: Kasey Kahne
- Jeff Burton -130 vs. Carl Edwards Ev - - Forget Daytona where Burton started 39 th and Carl started 27 th. Last week in Fontana, Burton started 14 th and Edwards started 31 st. Will Burton’s car prove best again in Las Vegas? I don’t think so. I believe that Burton goes back to around a 20 to 30 start position in this while Edwards improves off of that 31 st start in the Auto Club 500.
Pick: Carl Edwards
- Juan Pablo Montoya -130 vs. Brian Vickers Ev - - the odds on Montoya are very nice considering that he started 2 nd in the Auto Club 500 and 8 th in the Daytona 500. Vickers hasn’t started better than 22 nd in either race. Montoya should begin his quest for the Shelby American trophy in the Top 10 again which means he beats Vickers in this matchup.
Pick: Juan Pablo Montoya
- Kevin Harvick -130 vs. Jamie McMurray Ev - - McMurray was hot in the qualifying round last week when he grabbed the pole for the Auto Club 500. He started 13 th in his Daytona 500 victory a week earlier. Harvick has been more consistent than McMurray starting 5 th at Daytona and 6 th at Fonatana. Harvick is the bet in this matchup because of that consistency.
Pick: Kevin Harvick
