Crazy Start To NBA Season Has Bookmakers Scratching Their Heads

The National Basketball Association has been a wild and wacky one to start the season. The Eastern Conference Champion over the last three seasons lost 7 out of their first 13 games. The Western Conference Champions for the last three seasons lost two out of their first 3 games.

There are teams at the top of the Eastern Conference that no expert predicted there. Let's take a look at some of the surprise stories to start the 2017 - 2018 NBA season:

Eric Bledsoe Quits On Phoenix; Joins Milwaukee

So, guard Eric Bledsoe was able to quit on the Phoenix Suns, and went from one of the worst teams in all of the league to one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Bledsoe was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for Greg Monroe and a 2018 first round pick. What will Bledsoe do in Milwaukee is the big question, but giving them a guard of his quality really bumps the Bucks. If Cleveland cannot pick up their play - the Bucks are going to be able the team that competes with Boston at the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Detroit Pistons Are On A Roll

What is going on with the Detroit Pistons? Through 14 games this season, Stan Van Gundy is the NBA Coach of the Year. This team is winning games left and right. The Pistons won 5 straight games before dropping a close one to the Bucks. Tobias Harris has been the top scorer for the Pistons with nearly 20 points per game, but Avery Johnson - coming over from Boston has been sensational as well. Johnson is scoring 16.4 points per game and has helped Detroit become one of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season.

The Cleveland Caveliers Cannot Get Out Of Their Own Way

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 8-7 to start the season. There is a quick way to figure out what is going on with Ty Lue and his team. The Cavaliers are allowing teams to score over 113 points per game. There is not a team in the Eastern Conference that has allowed as many points as the Cavaliers. If the defense starts playing - the Cavaliers will start winning more games. Then - Isaiah Thomas returns. But first - got to play defense.

The Rockets Are Playing Some Defense

The Houston Rockets are playing some defense. What was that? Yes - the Houston Rockets are playing some defense. Look out for this team if the Rockets decide to keep playing both sides of the court. Houston is allowing just 105.3 points per game. Compare that to the 106.7 points allowed per game by the Golden State Warriors. The Rockets are going to get  their point guard Chris Paul back at some point, and the winners of six straight will be even better.

Oklahoma City Struggling To Start The Season

Russell Westbrook needed help and got help. The Oklahoma City Thunder added Carmelo Anthony and Paul George in the offseason - and many thought they were ready to compete at the top of the Western Conference. The Thunder dropped 5 of 12 games, but seem to be turning things around in their last 10 where they've gone 8-2. Have they finally figured it out or will this be a rocky season for the boys from The Bay?
