NBA Rookie of the Year Odds
by Aaron Torres

Sure the NBA season is still months away, but why wait until October to make your first wagers? Let’s take a look at some NBA Futures Bets, starting with who’ll win the 2011 Rookie of the Year:
Blake Griffin, Los Angeles Clippers (+200): It’d be easy to label the first pick of the 2010 NBA Draft- NBA betting fans know that Griffin might be the better wager.
The 6’10 power forward from Oklahoma missed his entire first season after becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 draft, meaning that he will have rookie eligibility in 2011. And don’t be surprised to see the former college player of the year take the NBA by storm when he does.
Griffin averaged close to 23 points and 14 rebounds a game as a sophomore, and dominated Big XII play, leading Oklahoma to the Elite Eight that season. And coming into a thin Clippers frontline that traded Marcus Camby last season, there’s no reason to think he won’t get plenty of playing time, and be able to put up similarly big-time stats.
Yes he’s coming off a major injury. But there’s a reason Griffin is the co-favorite of bettors to be the 2011 Rookie of the Year. Make him your bet today!
John Wall, Washington Wizards (+200): This year’s No. 1 overall pick enters the NBA with the hype of few players we’ve seen in recent memory. But can the former Kentucky guard live up to the expectations?
If there’s one player who can, it’s the 6’4 Wall, a lightning quick guard, who can get into the lane, find open teammates and finish at the basket with either hand. There’s a reason that Wall was named the SEC’s Player of the Year in 2010 as a freshman, he was just that good.
The one concern in betting Wall is this: Can he co-exist with Gilbert Arenas, another guard who needs the ball in his hands to be effective?
We’ll find out, but until then, Wall remains one of the best bets on the board.
Evan Turner, Philadelphia 76ers (+300): Turner was considered the most “NBA ready,” of all this year’s rookies, and looking at his college stats, it’s no wonder why. The guy was a machine, averaging 20 points, nine rebounds, six assists and almost two steals a game. Wow!
And joining a 76ers team that already features talent with forward Elton Brand and guard Andre Iguodala, Turner could be the final piece that gets this team back into the playoffs.
If Turner gets them there, you’ve got to think he’d the favorite to take home Rookie of the Year.
DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings (+700): Looking for a long shot on your bet? Look no further than Sacramento, where intriguing big man DeMarcus Cousins joins the Kings.
In his only college season, “Big Cuz,” was a man among boys, averaging 15 points and just under 10 rebounds a game, all while playing in the big shadow of Wall.
However, now in Sacramento, he’ll be teaming with 2009 Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans, forming a dynamic inside-outside combo.
There may be more talented players than Cousins in this rookie class. But at the odds you’ll be getting, there might not be a smarter wager.
Make Cousins your 2011 NBA Rookie of the Year bet today!
