NBA Thursday Night Preview
The usual Thursday night hoops doubleheader is a tripleheader this week with three games on the NBA betting schedule.
Getting things started on Thursday is an interesting Eastern Conference clash between Chicago. It’s interesting because it’s actually meaningful, with the Bulls only 2.5 games behind Philly for sixth place in the East.
The 76ers head into Thursday having lost their last two games. On Tuesday night Philly faced a desperate NBA odds. Andre Miller had a solid night with 23 points and seven assists and Louis Williams added 20 points in the loss.
The Bulls have reeled off a pair of wins after knocking off New York 110-103 as an 8-point favorite on Tuesday night. Kirk Hinrich showed some life off the bench with a team-high 25 points and John Salmons chipped in with 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
The 76ers lead the season series versus the Bulls 2-1 and they also won their last meeting in March 104-101 as a 3.5-point favorite. Thaddeus Young paced the 76ers with 31 points, and Derrick Rose led Chicago with 20 points.
Game 2 on Thursday night sees Orlando on Tuesday and looked good against the Magic in a 93-83 win as 1-point favorites. Yao Ming won the battle versus Dwight Howard with 20 points and 16 rebounds, and Ron Artest had 16 points, six boards, and seven assists.
The Kings are barely worth talking about, having lost their last five games. On Tuesday Sacramento was hammered by the Lakers, 122-104 as a 12.5-point ‘dog. Spencer Hawes was the only bright spot in the loss with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Not surprisingly the Kings are 0-2 versus the Rockets this season, but they are 2-0 ATS. In fact, in their last six matchups with Houston the Kings are 6-0 ATS.
The final Thursday night matchup pits Minnesota 110-87 as a 7-point chalk on Tuesday behind 23 points and eight rebounds from Carmelo Anthony.
The Lakers are riding a four-game winning streak after taking apart Sacramento on Tuesday. Pau Gasol led Los Angeles in the win with 26 points and 12 rebounds.
The last time the Nuggets and Lakers met up Denver snapped a nine-game losing streak versus L.A. with a 90-79 win as 2-point home underdogs. Chauncey Billups led the way with 22 points, while Chris Andersen was a force off the bench with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and seven blocks.
