Bookmark and Share by Eric Williams

The NFL and Super Bowl 44 may have taken center stage in the overall sporting world this past weekend, but pro basketball bettors have a lot to look forward to over the remainder of the 2009-10 NBA regular season.

This look at the hottest – and coldest – ATS teams in the league will give devoted pro basketball betting fansthe insight they need to make a plethora of winning wagers throughout the course of the coming week leading up to the annual all-star break.

With that said – and ton of entertaining matchups to wager on this week – let me get started.

Hot

These teams have covered the NBA moneyline in four of the last five games.

Phoenix 5-0 ATS

The Suns have won five straight games SU and ATS, recording quality wins over some top Western Conference title contenders like the Nuggets and Mavericks, along the way.

Keep an eye on the Suns upcoming NBA betting lines as they have tough games against Portland, Memphis and Dallas over the next 10 days.

Minnesota 4-1 ATS

The T-Wolves have won four straight heading into the new week while covering the NBA moneyline each time out (and no, I’m not kidding around). Minnesota is at Philly and hosts Charlotte this week.

Cleveland 4-1 ATS

The Cavaliers have won 11 consecutive games and has been on fire against the spread (ATS) despite having its six-game ATS winning streak snapped in Saturday’s win over New York. The Cavs host New Jersey on Tuesday night and Orlando in what could be the Game of the Week on Thursday.

Oklahoma City 4-1 ATS

The Thunder have been the biggest and best surprise of the entire season and look like they are going to be absolutely scary for some opponent by the tie the postseason rolls around. Oklahoma City has won five consecutive games while cover the spread in three straight and four of five overall. The Thunder hit the road to take on Portland on Tuesday night in its only contest this coming week.

Milwaukee 4-1 ATS

The Bucks have won three straight and five of its last six games heading into the new week. Milwaukee has also been on fire when it comes to spitting out paydays for basketball gamblers, going an incendiary 8-2 ATS over its last 10 games overall.

Not

These teams have failed to cover the NBA point spread in four of the last five games.

Dallas 0-5 ATS

The Mavericks may be one of the top title contenders in the Western Conference, but they sure haven’t played like it very much recently. Dallas has lost four of five SU and a whopping six straight against the spread (ATS) heading into the Week 16. Things won’t get much easier for Dirk Nowitzki and company as the Mavs hit the road to face Golden State and Denver this week.

Miami 1-4 ATS
The Miami Heat have worn down Dwyane Wade by the all-star break for the third consecutive season after relying on their all-star shooting guard far too much in the early going of the regular season. Miami limps toward the all-star break having lost five straight and seven of eight overall while going just 2-6 ATS during the span. Games against Rockets and Hawks this week, could turn out to be ugly affairs for the Heat.

Detroit 1-4 ATS

Maybe GM Joe Dumars should consider his rebuilding plan a bit more, ya’ think? The Pistons may have won two of its last three games. But overall, Detroit has gone a pitiful 2-7-1 ATS over its last 10 games overall. The Pistons do have two solid opportunities to record wins this week as they visit Milwaukee and host Sacramento.

Memphis 1-4 ATS

The Grizzlies could very well snap out of their mini-slump sometime soon, but bettors should know that the rebuilding ballclub has gone just 1-5 SU and ATS over the last six games. The Grizz visit Atlanta on Tuesday.

Boston 1-4 ATS

The Celtics are an absolute mess NBA gamblers! The C’s have made a habit of losing large leads recently and have gone a dismal 2-7-1 ATS over the last 10 games. However, the Celtics are starting to get healthier and could spell trouble for a lot of opponents at some point very soon. Boston hits the road to take on New Orleans on Wednesday.

So, there you have it pro basketball betting enthusiasts, this week’s look at the hottest and coldest ATS team in the NBA.
