NBA Week 17 Hot or Not – The Hottest and Coldest ATS Teams in the League

Bookmark and Share by Eric Williams

Okay BetUS NBA pro basketball betting enthusiasts, it’s time to get down to business!

With the annual all-star break now a thing of the past – and the 2009-10 regular season steamrolling toward what appears to be a fantastic finish in both conferences, this look at the hottest – and coldest – ATS teams in the league will give devoted pro basketball bettors a great jump on their post all-star break wagering.

With a full slate of NBA action taking place in the BetUS NBA sportsbook tonight, this look at the best and worst ATS teams in the league over their last five games should go a long way toward helping NBA gamblers cash in all week long.

With that thought in mind, let me get started.

Hot
These teams have covered the NBA moneyline in four of the last five games.

Minnesota 4-1 ATS

The Timberwolves lost their last two games prior t the annual all-star break after winning their four previous games, but have been one of the hottest ATS teams in the league recently, covering the NBA point spread in five of their last six games.

With matchups against the Pistons, Wizards and Bulls this week, the T-Wolves look like they could cash in for pro basketball betting enthusiasts some more this week.

Philadelphia 4-1 ATS

The Sixers heated up nicely before the all-star break despite having their five-game winning streak snapped the last time out. Philly had covered the spread in four straight games before dropping their last game SU and ATS. The Sixers have upcoming dates against Miami, San Antonio and Chicago.

Phoenix 4-1 ATS

The Suns won five consecutive games before having their winning streak halted in their last game before the break, covering the NBA betting line in each victory.

The Suns, who are in talks to move forward Amar’e Stoudemire, hit the road to take on Memphis and Dallas before hosting the Hawks and Kings.

Oklahoma City 4-1 ATS

The Thunder have been on fire against the spread, cashing in for backers in four consecutive games and five of six overall. Oklahoma City hosts Dallas, before hitting the road to take on New York and Minnesota over its next three games.

Not
These teams have failed to cover the NBA point spread in four of the last five games.

Dallas 1-4 ATS

The Mavericks are mired in a bad SU and ATS funk, having lost five of seven straight up while going a bankroll-breaking 2-8 ATS over its last 10 games. Dallas plays Oklahoma City, Phoenix and Orlando over its next three games, so it’s quite possible Dallas could fail to cash in a few more times before they get their act together.

Charlotte 1-4 ATS

The Bobcats won two straight before the break but has failed to cash in for backers in three consecutive games heading into the new week. A road date against New Jersey should cure Charlotte’s ATS blues, but the Bobcats face LeBron James on Friday before playing Milwaukee the following day.

Memphis 1-4 ATS

The Grizzlies lost four consecutive games and six of seven prior to the all-star break while failing to cover the NBA betting odds in every loss. With dates against Phoenix, Toronto and Miami coming up, things don’t look particularly great for the struggling young ballclub.

Boston 1-4 ATS

The Celtics had better get their act together quickly if they want to challenge Cleveland and Orlando in the Eastern Conference this season.  Boston lost two straight and five of eight prior to the break and have failed to cover the NBA moneyline in four consecutive games while posting a dismal 2-7-1 ATS mark over the last 10 games. The Celtics have four consecutive road games coming up against Sacramento, the L.A. Lakers, Portland and Denver, so I wouldn’t go expecting the Celtics to turn around their ATS struggles any time soon even if they do get back to playing winning basketball.
