San Antonio Looks to Sink Spurs into Jazz
by Mike Rose

San Antonio Spurs vs. Utah Jazz 9:00 ET
Both the Denver Nuggets. They’ve only dropped five of their 22 games played at Energy Solutions Arena and covered 12 of those games this season.
Utah currently sits as a two-point home favorite in tonight’s match-up with a game ‘total’ of 193. San Antonio is 3-3 SU and ATS as road underdogs of three or less points this season, while Utah counters with a 3-1 SU and ATS mark as home chalks of three points or less.
The Spurs held a lead after the first quarter in their last game played at LA, but it was all downhill from there after the Lakers outscored them 77-62 the rest of the way to secure the home win and cover. Tony Parker led the way in scoring with 19 points, and Tim Duncan was the only other SA player to register a double-digit output. As a team, the Spurs shot a woeful 37.5% from the field on 33-of-88 shooting, lost the battle of the boards 43-40, had eight shots blocked, and turned it over 13 times. The 85-point tally came as a surprise to head coach Gregg Popovich who saw his club register 90 or more points in three of its previous four contests.
After Lebron James dropped 33 on their defense Saturday night, the Jazz invaded the Pepsi Center looking to put an end to its two-game losing streak against Denver. Instead, Nene dropped 28 on the Jazz and the Nuggets handed them their third straight defeat by a 117-97 final count as eight-point home choices. Sloppy play and a poor conversion rate at the free throw line played large roles in the defeat as the Jazz turned it over 19 times and hit just 26 of their 41 shots at the charity stripe.
The Spurs embarrassed the Jazz 119-94 as 4.5-point home favorites the first time these clubs met up back in late November, but the Jazz played that game without All Star guard Deron Williams. The win added to the home teams dominance of this series that’s seen it cash ATS in nine of the L/10 meetings, and in 17 of the L/21 overall.
Will the Spurs bounce back from their poor showing against the Lakers on Sunday and run its winning streak to three in a row over the Jazz, or will Utah continue the series’ home team trend and snap its three game losing streak?
