Top-10 Reasons Lakers Will Make The NBA Championship
by Tim Furious

So we’re about a month in to NBA sports betting and I’m pretty sure that the Western Conference has been decided already. Do I really trust Denver for my NBA props betting well-being when their hopes rest in J.R. Smith? If Phoenix win a championship before an 86-year old Steve Nash has a heart attack?
Nobody has me sold in the West more than the defending champs. But in case you need actual reasons other, then I listed them in this revolutionary formula I like to call the “top-10”. Steal my ideas and I’ll kill you.
10. Shannon Brown
Momentum changes playoff games, and Shannon Brown is the type of loveable freak of nature that basketball teams yearn for. Whether it’s a rim shaker or a perfect shot at the perfect time, Brown can be the glue to this team even if he doesn’t know it. Right now he’s averaging just under six-points in just 14.9 minutes and he’s only going to get better as the season goes on. The only negative thing about Shannon is that he has a girl’s name. What happened in the hospital? Were his parents that dead set on having a girl that they couldn’t be a little flexible on their baby boy?
9. Best Big Men
Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum form the best frontcourt unit in the Western Conference. Name a better one. C’mon. I dare you!
8. Been There, Done That
They’ve won a championship. They’ve lost a championship series. They’ve been bounced in the playoffs before. They’ve been around the block and back…and the core of this franchise remained intact. Never underestimate team chemistry and their ability to weather the storm as a unit.
7. Defending Champs
They say that it’s easier to climb the mountain than it is to rule on top of it, but I think that old cliché is negated by the mere presence of Kobe Bryant. Not since Larry Bird or Michael Jordan has the league seen someone so passionately focused on crushing people, and Kobe’s killer instinct, coupled with his desire to etch a legacy outside of MJ and Shaq, makes these defending champions unique. For Boston, it merely lifted a burden off of three great players. For Kobe, it just gave him another challenge to overcome.
6. Derek Fisher
Fisher is often the pegged as the old man of the group, but his experience is priceless to the team. Ok, fine. It’s worth about five million bucks, but you get my drift. Fisher will be matched up against younger point guards, but this guy simply knows how to run Jackson’s offense no matter what the situation is.
5. Ron Artest Came To L.A. For A Reason
Ron Ron made it clear that he came to L.A. to win a championship and if he can put aside all the crap he’s caused in the past, then he’s the essential cog that L.A. has lacked to compliment the ferocity laden in Kobe Bryant. Averaging nearly 15-5 during the post season, Artest proved to be the only guy capable of remotely slowing down Kobe. Now he plays alongside Bryant, which means there’s no single player in the west that can match Kobe defensively.
4. Better Bench Than Most Starting Rosters
The starters are marquee guys, but look who’s coming off the bench. Jordan Farmar, Maria Sharapova’s new boyfriend, Luke Walton, Lamar Odom and all-hustle guy D.J. Mbenga. That’s a five-some that could stop most starting rosters in the west.
3. The Western Conference Sucks
I know the NBA basketball betting season is a lot to ask. Aside from that the Spurs are already dealing with heaps of injuries and there’s no way the Suns keep up this winning streak by Spring time. The Western Conference sucks and you all know it. Stop pretending like there’s a contender out there that rivals the Lakers. There isn’t.
2. Phil Jackson Going For XI
The Zen Master, as he’s known despite being a white guy, is building an unmatchable legacy in the NBA. He’s the most decorated head coach in all of the major sports leagues, and padding that legacy to insure his immortality is enough motivation for Phil to inspire the Lakers to the NBA Finals.
1. Kobe Bryant
Until LeBron wins a championship, Kobe is the best player in the league and there’s nothing you can possibly say that would make me think otherwise.
