Bookmark and Share by Charles Jay

WHO: Los Angeles Clippers (22-51 SU, 32-40 ATS)

WHERE: Staples Center in Los Angeles

WHEN: Monday, March 31 at 10:30 PM ET

BetUS NBA betting odds: Dallas -6.5, Total 192.5

In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting trends:

* DALL has won the last five meetings SU

* LA has covered six of the last nine meetings

* Twelve of the last 15 meetings have gone UNDER the total

* LA has covered five of the last six meetings as the home team

* DALL has won 12 of the last 17 meetings SU as the visitor

* Seven of the last eight meetings in Los Angeles have gone UNDER the total

* DALL has had the rebounding edge in four of the last six meetings

* DALL has made more three-pointers in each of the last six meetings

Dallas has compiled a 15-21 straight-up record on the road this season. The Mavericks are second in the league in free throw shooting at 81.3%. Also:

* DALL has lost its last six games ATS

* DALL has lost five of its last six games SU

* DALL has played its last three games OVER the total

* DALL has lost five of its last six road games SU

* DALL has played five of its last six road games OVER the total

The Clippers have been consistently sub-standard in almost all areas. They score just 94.1 points a game, which is 29th in the league, and are 29th in rebounding as well, pulling down 39.7 boards per contest. Also:

* LA has lost 10 of its last 11 games SU

* LA has covered four of its last five games

* LA has lost eight of its last ten home games SU

* LA has covered two of its last nine home games

The Mavs are in a three-way tie for 7th in the West, and only two of those teams is going to the playoffs. If Dallas fails to get there, it will be the only team since the 1973-74 Milwaukee Bucks to have the best record in the league, with home court playoff advantage, in one season, then miss the playoffs the next.

So there is plenty of urgency, especially after the loss to Golden State Sunday night. And some of the technical numbers seem to favor the Mavs here, as L.A. has covered just two of its last nine at home. But the Clips have indeed covered five of the last six meetings at the Staples Center. Josh Howard has had 30 points or more in three straight games for Dallas, including 32 last Monday in a 13-point win over this same Clipper team at the American Airlines Center. And Jason Kidd has had 29 assists in the last two games.

After missing nine games with injury, Clippers center Chris Kaman has worked himself back into the lineup, and had 15 rebounds with four blocked shots against Memphis on Saturday. In Kaman's absence, rookie Al Thornton had flashes of brilliance, and on Saturday he exploded with a career high of 39 points, which included a trio of three-pointers. This is especially important to mention because Dirk Nowitzki remains out with a high ankle sprain, and that leaves a big hole in the Dallas offense. Good news is also on the way for L.A., as Elton Brand is set to return from his Achilles injury on Wednesday.

With these teams going in different pointspread directions at the moment, we'll grab points with the Clippers, the 6.5-point underdog in the BetUS NBA basketball betting odds.
