NBA Power Rankings - Magic Climb to the Top

Most of the betting world’s eyes are on college basketball and the NCAA Tournament, but the NBA hasn’t gone anywhere.

Last week was another important week for bettors who concentrate on NBA games in the BetUS online sportsbook.  March Madness might be a college thing, but basketball betting has always been profitable when it comes to the NBA.

Let’s take a look at the rankings.

NBA:  Power Rankings

  1. 44-24-1 ATS - - The Magic are back on top after going 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 7 games.  This includes ATS victories over the Cavs and the Jazz.
  1. Atlanta Hawks 40-30 ATS - - Atlanta continues to be about as hot as any team in the NBA right now after going 8 and 0 ATS in their last 8 games.  New Orleans, Utah, Dallas and Cleveland are all on the list of teams they’ve beaten against the spread.  So, the ranking is justified.
  1. 43-27 ATS - - The Cavs went 0 and 5 against the spread before a Sunday ATS victory over New Jersey.  Maybe, the victory over the Nets is a sign that they’re back on track.
  1. 35-34 ATS - - The Lakers are only 3 and 3 ATS in their last 6 games.  But two out of the three against the spread victories came on the road against Houston and San Antonio.
  1. 36-33 ATS - - After a three game losing streak, Utah has bounced back with two straight-up victories.  Of course, one of those victories was a loss ATS, but the other one against the pesky Oklahoma City Thunder was a betting victory and a good sign that the Jazz might be ready to start another streak.
  1. 35-36-1 ATS - - The Rockets have gone 2 and 0 ATS in their last 2 games.  One was a two point victory over the San Antonio Spurs this past Sunday on the road.
  1. New Orleans 30-37-2 ATS - - The Hornets had a three game ATS losing streak that they put to bed recently by going 2 and 0 straight-up and against the spread against Memphis and Golden State.
  1. Denver Nuggets 36-33-1 ATS - - Denver’s riding a 5 game straight-up winning streak but they are only 2 and 3 against the spread in those five games.  They start a three game road trip versus Phoenix, New Orleans and Dallas on Monday night.  That should tell bettors a lot about this team.
  1. 36-35 ATS - - Kevin Garnett returns and the Celtics start to win again.  After going 0 and 6 against the spread, they’ve gone 2 and 0 ATS in their last two games.  One was a victory against San Antonio on the road as a 3 ½ point underdog.
  1. San Antonio Spurs 34-33-2 ATS - - The Spurs are in danger of dropping out of the top ten after going 0 and 4 against the spread in their last 4 games.  But they do get to play Golden State, Atlanta and the Los Angeles Clippers in their next three games.  A turnaround is likely.
