Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Jersey Nets

This is the never ending season for the New Jersey Nets. They have been miserable all year, and will continue to stink it up on Tuesday when the Portland Trail Blazers come to town in the finale of a four- game homestand. No big shocker here but the Nets have dropped the first three at home, the last being a 104-94 decision to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.

How bad are the Nets? The loss Sunday dropped their overall record to 5-51 on the season... 5 and freaking 51. That’s just beyond bad, so bad actually that they’re still very much in danger of breaking the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers' 9-73 mark and taking their rightful place in history as the worst team EVER.

The loss to the Grizzlies dropped them to 3-24 at home, and it was their seven in a row in their own building. Brook Lopez was the bright spot for the Nets who finished with 26 points and nine rebounds. Lopez has been doing it all year and is someone that Nets fans should put some faith into, that is if they have any left. He is third among all NBA centers in scoring at 19.1 ppg, and ask anyone in the league, the building blocks for a successful team usually involves a big man that can score. He’s the only guy in the league that is averaging at least 19.0 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.93 blocks, so can do it all.

Here are some NBA Betting trends for this matchup:

  • Trail Blazers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games.
  • Trail Blazers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
  • Trail Blazers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference.
  • Under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in New Jersey.
  • Trail Blazers are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings.
  • Trail Blazers are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings in New Jersey.
  • Underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings.
  • Road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.

Portland is in a much better spot than New Jersey, which isn’t saying much, but overall they Blazers have to look at this season a disappointment so far. They are currently in 8th place in the Western Conference with a record of 32-26, and have been on the playoff fringe all season.

The Blazers are just one game ahead of New Orleans, who have been playing good basketball of late, for the eighth and final postseason berth in the Western Conference. A date in New Jersey should have the Blazers licking their chops as they’ve been skidding of late, dropping two straight and four of its last six games, their last being a 93-89 decision in overtime to the Utah Jazz on Sunday. This is the first game of a road trip that will see them face the Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves and the Memphis Grizzlies.

These two teams last faced each other back on November 25 from the Rose Garden and Portland came out with a 93-83 win, their fourth straight win in the series.

The NBA Betting odds at BetUS has Portland an 8 point road favourite with the total set at 184 ½
