In a pivotal and astronomically important game three, the Cavs were one brutally missed foul call and three free throws away from an overtime which might have given them a slim chance in this series. Instead, the NBA Championship.
Despite the missed call at the end of game three, LeBron and the Cavaliers maintained a professional and determined attitude. The King went as far to say that Bowen’s groping was nothing more then incidental contact.
Also not helping the Cavs was the production of Daniel Gibson, who went 1-10 from the field and 0-5 from three-point range. The one they call Boobie was a boob on the score sheet, notching just two points in the most important game of the series.
LBJ tried to take over in the fourth quarter, pouring in thirteen points. The Spurs were hopeless to stop him, but the rim was Spurs-friendly and some of LeBron’s lay-ups danced off it. Not helping matters was the paltry play of the remaining Cavs, who went 3-19 in the fourth.
Someone might want to remind the Cavs that this is the NBA Finals.
This game simply comes down to pride for the Cavs. But the truth is that the Spurs have found a way to dominate this team, and will close out the series tonight in four. It is a rite of passage for LeBron, however. Shaq and Magic were also swept in their first bid.
The Spurs have remained 5-0 ATS in their last five, despite tight spreads and low scores. Look for the Spurs to cover with relative ease as they pull away in the third quarter and a hapless Cavs team roams the court with devastated spirits in the fourth.
Everyone is hoping LeBron goes crazy like he did on the Pistons, but he needs a good supporting cast to get it done. The inexperience of Boobie, the injury (and overall skill level) of Hughes and no answer to Tim Duncan leave the Cavs hopeless.
The Spurs have five starters who can find ways to score, which was evident in three of their starters getting double-digit points. They are simply too dynamic, and too well coached, for the Cavs to keep up with them.
Tony Parker has blossomed in this series. He will likely take home the Finals MVP, win another ring and marry the voluptuous Eva this summer. Makes it a pretty enviable life until you realize that, even amongst all those accolades, he is still French.
Bet on the Spurs to close this series out, despite some heroics from LeBron. The supporting cast of the Cavs is simply no match for the Spurs, and Mike Brown is not a coach who can push this roster to their limits.
Break out the brooms. The Cavs are as good as dust.
The King’s coronation will have to wait.
